Would you please write back and elaborate on why your Astro won't stay running? Have you looked under the hood for faulty wiring at the battery or around the engine? Sometimes by looking around you can stumble across defects. Have you tested any systems? I would like to get an idea of what type of advice you are looking for. If you could give me an idea of what you have for tool and experience. I think I could help you better. Has the van had any recent work performed? After the engine is started. How long will the engine run before it stalls? Will it run long enough to reach running temperature? after the engine starts. How does the engine run? Is the idle and acceleration normal? Is the engine light on? Is the security light on?

Go to Autozone or one of them and get the trouble codes read. Probably something there, maybe a crank or cam position sensor code, or also could be something in the ignition system like a bad coil or the ignition control module. The ICM controls the ignition coils' circuit, both of these two items can go bad and then fail when warmed up. Backfiring, shaking, and coughing kinda sounds like a bad crank sensor, but that's just a guess. Check for trouble codes first.

i would start by investigating the fuse box for a possible blown fuse.also double check the wiring connector is fully seated on the part you have replaced

It is located under the drivers seat, bolted to the floor, be very careful of the thick yellow wire. thats the signal wire to set off the air bag. Also be sure to disconnect the trucks battery when messing around with electronics, and make sure you touch your truck as in ground your self before you install the new computer as static from your body can fry a new computer

Could be that the potentiometer is not tracking properly. If that is not it, then it is the chip that controls the volume at fault.

Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector
Remove the oil pressure sensor and washer
remove the oil filter and o-ring (you may have to use a flat head screwdriver to get the filter out)replace the filter and o-ring assembly.
apply sealant to the threads of the oil pressure sensor (I would replace the sensor
while you at this)
install the pressure sensor and washer to 15 lb ft.
reconnect the oil pressure sensor.

First thing you could try is replacing the circuit board on your wiper motor. It's behind the black retangular box on your wiper motor. Not hard to change. A few screws and a plug in. Or- change the whole wiper motor. ( about $80 more than the board) Bolts can all be accessed by removing the cover at the bottom of your windshield. Pretty straight forward.

possiable fusable link between battery and main fuse box under the hood or near the starter. follow all the positive wires from the battery one of them has the fusiable link this part of the wire will usually look like its been added with some heatshrink . to tell if its bad the wire will feel soft and bendable. if its good it will feel stiff.also check all fuses under the hood

You are asking about the lift pump or booster pump. The relay for this pump is located behind the doghouse. Lift the doghouse away and look at the side panel closest to the driver's seat. You will see the relay bolted to it. Treat this part with care. This relay is discontinued and I did not find a usable superseded part number. GM Part # 15528707. Good luck.

Bob, did you ever figure out how to fix this? This is exactly our problem!!

1998 Chevrolet... | Answered on Dec 14, 2019

apart from trading it in for a new model you could try changing the back wheels for the front wheels and see if this cures the wobble.the car battery is fine if its starting ok so leave that well alone as no doubt the firestone have a special on the batteries where the mechanic gets so many cans of beer for each battery sold .forget the service engine light thats their to make you take vehicle to dealer to have it done to put the light out ,change the battery in the key fob but be warned this vehicle has to be put on the dealer diagnostic machine to reset ,another wheeze to keep the dealers in business so use another battery with the wires on to hook into contacts on the key fob before you change the battery ,save about 80 euros + labour .now the ABS light ??? thinking ,could be lots of things but here you may need a local mechanic to have a look for you as the cause could be sensor on a wheel or the wheel bearing as the modern motor uses a gray paste on the back of the wheel bearing instead of a metal ring with teeth and this paste/paint can get damaged by a twig or plastic bag getting caught behind the bearing rubbing it off ,i have the teashirt for this so dont ask.see how you get on and if you need anything else just answer the reply
