Sounds like a heat, thermal issue. You may have a non- functioning cooling fan somewhere inside. There are several of them so don't be fooled if you hear one of them running. Same issue happens with CPUs on PC computers. Will suddenly shut off if too hot.

These equipments use a sbc492 by Aaeon motherboard, and usually they shows a message like "Cmos battery Low".These motherboards use an RTC M48T86PCI with a internal lithyum battery, and just replace that component.Other problems may occur, like damaged slots, and or oxidation, but generally the 486 architecture is a huge way to work,Only clean change the memory(dimm 128 x 100mh)and enjoy.A simple way is a replacement with a new one by Intel, still easy to find in some inventorys, i have many in USA who can suply. hope to solved

The trouble is with the CPU. It needs to be replaced

The problem is in the mainboard, look for j conectors, and try to see if any is released.They control the step motor who can make the camera focus

It sounds like the backlight of the LCD display is out. The Image is still being displayed there is just no light to illuminate the image. Try shining a flashlight on it (Put the light right against the screen) and see if you can see what's on the screen. The display is fairly easy to install but I do not know where you can purchase one directly.

The battery is soldered to the CPU. People from Zeiss Germany said that it needs to replace all the CPU. Now a days there is no longer spare parts for that instrument. I recommen you just change the day and time each time you turn it on

I assume you are talking about your electric fan they could be 2 reason your fan relay need to change or temp sensor i suggest start with changing your relay

In the user manual they list some compatible printers that have a 25 pin parallel connector. We use Lexmark Optra E312L with good results. Once you hook it up, you have to go into one of the setup menus to port it over. The user guide tells the procedure.

I believe "state 19" is a weak main illumination bulb. Not sure if it's the same on your 740, but that's what the problem was with our 750i. Even though the bulb appears to be working, they dim over time and won't pass the start up calibration checks. On ours, there is a round access panel on top of the unit to service this bulb. Just be careful removing the bulb and don't bump any of the clear optical wheels. Part # 2660021106082 (for 750i. not sure about 740) Call Zeiss to confirm. Realize this is an old post so info is for future readers.
