Thermador downdraft does not stop going up and going down automatically

I had a similar issue with the Thermador CVS30R hood continually going up and down, and also issues with the fan starting. The issue was found to be a loose control arm off the motor. The arm itself moved outward on the motor shaft which resulted in it missing the switches that control the hood up/down and fan start. This was a somewhat simple fix. Make sure the hood is in the down position. Unplug the unit from power(important!). Unscrew the screw that connects the drive arm to the drive link. Unscrew the motor/control cover, then unscrew the 4 screws holding the complete motor/control unit on (2 Phillips-head screw on each end of the assembly). Pull the complete motor/control assembly out, be careful of wiring. Once out, push the drive arm on firmly onto the motor assembly and tighten the screw. When doing so make sure the 2 micro switch arms are not caught and are free to switch. When placing the unit back in, ensure all wiring is clear from being caught and ground is reconnected. Put it all back together and done!I found this link to be useful for a parts/configuration diagram:http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=232629&diagram_id=194441#d194441

Thermador model GGCV30 gas cooktop

The flame spreader in the middle of the hob has a small hole that directs as jet of gas to the igniter. Put it in a pan of water and dish soap and gently heat it to almost a simmer. Be careful, it will want to boil over. Leave it to cool and and rinse it well paying attention to the holes in the edge. Blow it dry and try again.

The grill igniter stays on when the knob is in the off position

It's an ignition switch, to confirm take off the front panel should be about 7 screws. 4 at very bottom 1 at each end above the bottom trim and 1 behind the grill knob. Remove all knobs and disconnect power. Remove the grill switch and swap it with any of the other 2 similar switches. Connect power and test. Make sure your ignitor is still good because the ignitor burned out on the unit I was working on.

I have a Thermador PRSE304SLP 4 burner stove. The front burner on the left will not ignite. It does have spark. All the little holes are clear in the cap/cover.Everything is dry. It’s been like this for quite a while. It does not click like the other three when i push in and turn it and does not get gas. Is this a bad gas solenoid ?

you hear clicking and see sparks as you turn the burner knob, and can smell that gas is flowing okay, but the fire won’t ignite, it’s possible that the gas feed is cloggedThis is a super quick and easy fix – simply lift off the grate (make sure it’s cool to the touch), take off the burner cap, and lift the burner out from the range top. For some models, you may need to unscrew the two screws holding the burner in place – for this, a regular nut driver or socket wrench will do the trick.Have a look at the small, nearly pin-sized hole in the back of the burner. This feeds the gas through to the igniter to get the fire lit, and can frequently get blocked up with grease or any other kind of debris. Just give the burner a thorough clean, sticking a toothpick, needle, or other similarly sized tool through the hole to clear it up, and pop it back on to your stovetop. The gas should feed through and the burner should light as usual.

Thermador P304CS error code 4 preheat blinks then 3 heat blinks

I wanted to post this up in case someone has trouble finding an answer and what worked for me. I found somewhere else that the 43 code (4 preheat;3heat) blinks was specific to the cooling fan or the temp sensor. I had started to remove the temp sensor off the back wall of the oven but was unsure where the wire ran to. There is a specific Ohm value it should have around 1080 I think (not 100% postive). What I found during that search is what solved the oven problem for me. On the top of the range, if you pull off the grill grates and remove the center stainless cover you can access under the burners. You can do this without removing any wires or hardware. In the back of this area is a small cover held in by 4 screws. Remove that. Underneath it is the cooling fan switch. It is a mechanical switch that when the fan kicks on it pushes a metal sail that then causes a connection in the switch letting it know the fan is operating. This switch had a little bit of corrosion on one terminal but it is also prone to getting dirty. Clean it off and try to restart the oven. The sail should move forward and the switch makes connection. For me once it was cleaned and any corrosion cleaned off, my oven worked just fine. This is a pretty easy check with the 43 code since it does not involve a lot of invasive work. Hope this helps someone.

Error code "43"?????

Thanks Marty for the info on the sail switch. We experience the same error code 43 problem. Seemed like the sail switch was stuck in the back position and didn't come forward when the fan started. So I bent a metal coat hanger and used it to pull the switch foward to "unstick" it. I tested the oven turning it on and off a few times and made sure that the switch moves forward with the blower fan starting when the oven was on, and moved back when the oven was turned off. Should be obvious, but make sure the blower is not running and the oven is turned off before you stick the wire hanger back there. A pretty quick and easy thing to try before calling the repairman.12_31_2011_10_00_20_pm.jpg12_31_2011_10_06_54_pm.jpg12_31_2011_10_07_56_pm.jpg

My Thermador Pro Range reads 'Turn Knobs to Off'. But they ARE all turned to 'off'. Only 2 of the 6 burners now will turn on.

you have to turn all knobs to off including the outer selector dials on the outer part of oven temp knobs once everything is turned to off shut breaker down for 2 min then turn on should reset
