Does your remote for the dish have an aspect ratio setting on it?...if it does change it to normal

If your TV has a menu button, go into the menu and try setting the input of the TV to the jack that you connected your cable to. Sometimes the TV will not check all the inputs and just does the default one when you do the auto-tune search function to find the active channels. Also, check to see that your wall receptacle is actually hooked into your active cable TV line. You should have a splitter somewhere in the same line that your other TV is using. Hi leprecoce, One transistor out of millions has failed shorted. That is an unusual failure mode, but not unheard of. The chip can probably be replaced, you might want to check google maps or http://tvrepair.com for a repair shop near you. Most shops should be able to give you an estimate, I would guess around $300, unless the chip is hard to get.

Unplug the power and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then press and hold the buttons on the TV while another person plugs it in. Hold the buttons down for 30 seconds, or until the set beeps. It is possible that the flash update was not successful for some reason, in which case the set may have to be returned to the factory, or a factory service center to be reflashed properly. Record model number and google sharp software upgrades. You may not even need to load it , but it always solves my problems as you describe as yours. Good Luck

Factory Default Reset:

- Unplug the TV and count to 10 slowly.
- Hold down the power button on the TV (not the remote.)
- Plug in the TV while holding power button.
- Count to 10 and release the power button.
- Turn it on and hope for the best.
