No speed/RPM reading, Console displays "E3" error code
Check data cable integrity All wires in cable should be intact. If any are cut or crimped, replace cable.
Check data cable connections/orientation, insure cable is connected securely and oriented properly. Small latch on connector should line up and snap into place.
Check magnet position (requires shroud removal) Magnet should be in place on flywheel. If no magnet is present, replace the flywheel or the entire base unit (if unable to replace flywheel).
Check RPM Sensor (requires shroud removal) RPM sensor should be aligned with magnet and connected to data cable. Realign sensor if necessary ( 1/8" clearance between sensor and flywheel) if still error 3 then check the sensor with a multi meter unplug sensor leads attach meter to sensor connectors. Have someone by hand rotate the pedal while you observe the multi meter opening and closing the internal sensor circuit if no change in meter readings then replace the sensor.

My RPM sensor was defective and I replaced it with a similar one from ebay and that did the trick: Horizon Tempo Treadmill RPM Speed Sensor Reed Switch 2 Terminal Wire 002267-B (flat version)

It is possible that the crank arms are not seated correctly on the bottom bracket spindle, causing them to be misaligned. Try removing the crank arms and re-installing them, making sure that they are properly aligned with each other and with the bottom bracket spindle. Follow this link and you can download the owners manual as well as the exploded parts schematics. There will be information about the different years. other than the consoles they have remained the same for 20 + years. If you ever need to replace the bottom bearing be sure to get the lock ring as well. It changed from left hand thread to right. Thats it. You can also upgrade the console to the newer version. A little expensive but with proper care a 20 year old Airdyne will last till the frame rusts out from under it.

Page 24 of the manual for Pause and Resume. Push and hold 3 seconds for Guest User. Page 39 tells you 'PAUSED' is because you stopped pedaling for 5 seconds. to Reset the machine, unplug it from the mains for at least 3 minutes.
