You don't need any software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Here is what the Samsung websites says:

MMCplus(up to 2GB guaranteed 4bit 20MHz);
SD (up to 4GB guaranteed);
SDHC (up to 8GB guaranteed);

So it is OK to use a 4GB SDHC memory card in your samsung sl310w.

Samsung doesn't offer official downloads assuming that your camera will plug&play on the computer automattically. However, try to download the whole pack of Samsung driver downloads from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/226025988/SamsungMaster1114_17062008.zip

Is the "Stripe line" appearing when you use an arftificial (LED or Fluorescent) light source? They flicker and can cause a line or interference pattern on the camera.

Time for a new camera as this will be more expensive to fix than its worth. had a quick look on ebay and they are about $80 new so shout yourself an upgrade. I bought a Samsung camera like this for $5 for parts last year and spent more than 2 hours fixing another 1. Bought myself a Sony cybershot w830 20mp 8x zoom camera for $150 and its brilliant.

Have you actually formatted the card in the camera ? Just copying the photos does not remove them from the card

LCD screen is damaged - repair probably very expensive.

Your only redress is to return it in person to the store from which you bought it and explain the situation to the clerk there.

Take it to a repair facility

Contact Samsung online through customer support and technical support to see if you can purchase a disc or download the files. ebay has a vast amount of hardware and software, worth a shot.

It could be either the camera or the memory card. Try a different memory card. If the different card works, then likely your card is bad.
