If you haven't done anything with the card since then, you may be able to recover at least some of the pictures. Do a Google search for "data recovery software" and select a program for your computer and operating system. Put the card back into the card reader, cross your fingers, and run the program.Next time, don't scan and fix. Personally, I always slide the lock on the card to the write-protect position before putting it into my card reader. Not only does it prevent the "scan" dialog from popping up, it keeps the computer from putting the recycle bin and other garbage onto the card.

Plug the usb cable back in the camera and PC. Let it find the PC then shut off the camera. Remove the cable and power the camera back on.

Are they an option offered in the menu system to assist in obtaining level horizons, or are they random ? If the latter, then the LCD in the viewfinder may have connection problems or broken circuits. Has it been dropped or knocked recently? Was it subject to extreme temperature etc ? You may find the lines shift around or even go away for some time. That again would imply bad connections.

What batteries are you using ? Some batteries, although the correct nominal voltage for the camera, are not powerful enough for continued use. I have found the best solution is to use rechargeable NiMH batteries of at least 2100 MaH, preferably 2500 MaH.

Ensure you're using new batteries and try again.

Go into the menu settings, the flash can be set to , off , automatic, and some cameras manual

If you can find a reset button reset the camera fo factory default. It sounds as though you might have a memory card in the camera? If this is so put the card in a n adapter plug it into a card slot and format it. The reason you may not be able to see photos is if they were put on a card from another source. They may be in an incorrect format or in too large a sixe to be displayed on that camera

Save the pictures and videos on the card. Try reformatting the card in the computer, and then again using the camera. The first reformat will ensure the card is empty, and then the camera reformat will ensure that it is recognized by the camera. If the camera reformat will not work, try a new card.

Get an external SD card reader/writer. They range from 3.00 to 13.00 US. It makes transferring photos way faster than using the cable that came with the camera. Photo's load directly to your hard drive so photo editing is easier.

If your camera came with software (Installation disk) install it on your PC. If not, try the manufacturer's website where you may be able to download a copy.
