by rolled hem I imagine that you are trying to put something like rope in the hem to make a round edge You can buy a 1/2 foot that allows the needle to get close to what ever is making the roll see your local sewing machine shop

There is a lever on the bobbin winder which needs to be shifted back or the knob for cranking the machine into position needs to be pushed or retracted back so it would engage the machine and not the bobbin winder.

More than likely the motor belt jumped off. Remove 2 bottom torx screws from the base of the machine at the back. Then you have about 7 #10 torx screws to remove from the back cover. Then lift up the pressure foot. The trick to getting the back cover off is to get behind the machine, and slap the back cover and pull off at the same time. Sounds rediculous but thats the way it comes off.
