Guide does not move on GTO220 is pawl worn?
It should have a gear under the side cover that goes from the crank to line drum to the pawl. You should take the side cover off open face reel Periodicly to lube the gears. It may be so a locking pin in the interior gear.

How to fix Defiance 25LW that will not cast (or free spool)
Those reels are very simple, nothing too complex about them at all, sounds to me that the clutch gear is stuck not and not releasing when you try to engage it. I've had similar bait caster lock up like that when trying to cast heavier baits, what happens is the spool spins so fast that the inertia and vibration causes the reel to actually engage mid cast slamming the gears together. not good for the gears by the way. more that like the reel needs to be opened up and looked at to resolve the issue. www,darksidereelz.com for all your reel service needs
Require a diagram to assemble 330GTI reel. Reel
Here you go!
330 GTi SchematicMake sure the drag plates and drag washers go in correctly or the drag will not work very well.
If you are using braided superline, make sure there is monofilament backing under the line otherwise the braided line will slip on the spool arbor, tricking you into thinking the drag is shot.
Best of luck!

My 2 year old peen ss650 will at times reel in
Needs a good cleaning. Take it apart you will see trip lever clean and lube. If it is broken you will need to replace. I have done this many times and always say I will do it in Spring never get to it and have the problem when I'm in the suds
My penn 950SSm reel doesn't
Try flipping it forward.. if that doesn't work... there must be a small spring inside broken. Just take it completely apart on a table. once apart look at the bail assembly, u should be able to find the broken piece. Take both broken pieces down to your local hardware store and ask someone for assistance. Someone should be able to help you find a piece very similar.
How do you cast the reel so the spool dosent
On the side of the reel there is a knob that you adjust for the spooling. As a rule of thumb you adjust it so when you have a lure on,click the release button and let it spool out,it will only drop about 4 feet. Now! tighten it a fraction.Start casting and it will not go very far.Just before the lure hits the water, you put your thumb on the spool.Hard at first and then less as you get used to it.You can then adjust the spooling knob to go a bit further every time. You use your thumb on the spool to adjust the last 10 feet of line.Use a lure with no hooks on it to practise. It's called a plug.Hope this helps and you reel in the big one's
I have two penn 7500ss reels and one has a brass
Hello Steve.
The brass gear would be stronger.
But on a technical standpoint if properly lubricated the gears should never actually touch.
A film of grease should keep them apart in micro inches to prevent wear.
Now go and catch a muskie !
