These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Increase the volume on the TV and/or your connected media device (streaming player, Blu-ray player, cable or satellite box, etc.). Check the audio settings on your TV and connected devices. Three blinks of the power LED indicates an over-current or over-voltage condition in one of the DC supplies of the AP board. The AP board is repairable. Therefore the use of an ohmmeter and peak-hold-voltmeter is required to determine the cause of the shutdown. An over-voltage condition is definitely a defect of the AP board. I hooked a exterior camera up to comp.1 and it worked just fine for hours then the whole thing shut down and light wouldn't stop blinking 3 times so I disconect the camera unplug tv for 3 mins plug everything back up and this time put camera on video 2 and it all works fine. It was like duh did you check to see if it had gas.

Good make and it is an HD model with good reviews. It is about 10 years old. It really depends of if fancy a new one or not. I don't advise against home television repair. We see about 10 questions a day here of people who replace boards and still have a non working television. Consult the owner manual for the player (and or try it on another set) as many players have settings that can cause B&W or a single color display for the image.
