Plasma TV sets are impossible to get parts for. The problem that you are describing could be many things but the most likey is failing capacitors in the power supply

You could adjust the resolution on your laptop to match the projector, before you start your presentation.

You could try resetting the remote itself (remove the batteries as if to replace them, press any key on the remote to clear its buffer, then re-insert them or use new batteries) - since your unit is on remote command 2 (or SET 2), try pressing 2 and ENTER/OK on the remote together for 10 seconds, then release. This should now restore your remote to the correct command mode for your player. It may also solve the playback function issue.

The remote for most Panasonic DVD units would need to be reset whenever the batteries are replaced.

I understand the instruction manual does not always help the user.

Hi, You can replace parts but first I would check that your remote volume-down button isn't jammed because this might cause the volume to constantly be low or lower. I would also examine the volume-down button on your tv. Thank you.

Turn on your TV.
On your Tune In remote, press TV and release.
Press and hold Set until the green light on Tune In blinks once, pauses and then blinks twice. Now release the Set key.
Enter the first three-digit TV code for your NEC from the list which follows:

These codes are listed in order of popularity, and the green light will blink twice if you perform this procedure correctly.
Aim Tune In at your TV and press Power. Your TV should turn off. If it does not, repeat steps 2-5, trying each code listed in step 4 until you find the one that operates your TV.

For the majority of phillips/magnavox universal remotes: Hold code search button down till red light satys on. Press the tv button and the red light should blink and stay lit. With the tv on, push the power button repeatedly until the tv turns off.(dont push the power button again after the tv turns off or it will go to the next code). Push the mute button to save the setting.

Normally when the screen is blank and the power indicator is blinking, it means the TV is in the shutdown mode to protect itself. Try unplugging it for several minutes. This will give the system time to cool down and also reset itself. While it is unplugged make sure there is nothing blocking the vents and clear them of dust and debris. Use a non-abrasive cloth. (You can dampen the cloth with water, but do not use any chemical cleaners.) You can also use a can of compressed air made for electronics to help clear the vents.  If this doesn't clear up the problem, then what you read about the SU and/or SD board is most likely the issue. The number of times the power indicator light blinks in a sequence identifies for the technician what parts to test. I have included the chart for you. Because of the high voltage parts in the TV, unless you have done this type of repair before, I recommend having a technician diagnose and complete the repair. These were manufactured before computers were used and it is unlikely there will be any trace.

Check your speakers are connected and there is power to the system.

Being a VCR/DVD recorder combo unit, the tracking issue is usually mechanical, and can be caused by any one of a number of things, including guides.

Unless you are tech. savvy with years of experience, this repair really should be undertaken by a qualified technician in a fully equipped service workshop, as some of the parts, if they need to be replaced, can only be obtained via them. The other worry is the expense.

In your case though, it sounds very much like a faulty guide (some service agents refer to these as 'base incline units') assuming the playback picture has noise bars but the speed is otherwise steady - replacement/alignment should be done by a technician - submit your unit to a workshop, tell them the problem, get a quote, and second opinion on the likely parts/labour costs involved, then make a decision afterwards on what action to take. Up to you.

(these decks use a belt between the capstan and the clutch flywheel under the mechanism - the workshop may replace the belt as well, since these stretch over time; which can also cause tracking issues)

In any case, the workshop second opinion and quote will tell you more. You should not need a new unit.
