How does it work?

Put bait on the pan inside then on the side of the trap there is a trigger mechanism where one arm rest on another arm that holds the doors open. When the animal messes with the bait the 1st arm will move allowing the 2nd arm to fall closing the end doors.

How do you set this trap

There will be a trigger mechanism on the side of the trap. When you raise the doors the trigger mechanism has two points where one will rest on the other holding the end doors open. I would recommend putting the bait on the trigger pan before you set the trap. When ever the animal touches the bait it causes the one arm to move in turn allowing the second arm to fall closing the doors trapping the animal.

What is the best steel for a hunting knife?

Right now the best steel as far as stainless steel is S35VN stainless steel. It surpasses the S30V steel. But if you want the best carbon steel, personally I would go with D2 steel. It is such a good steel that it is considered a semi-stainless steel. But to really help you out, it's not the type of steel that's the most important thing. It is the way the steel is heat tempered and hardened. If it is not properly heat treated and hardened, then the steel is worthless as far as knives go. If the HRC is too high for the type of steel/ stainless steel, then the blade will be brittle and chip or break easier. If the steel's HRC aka Rockwell hardness is too low, then it will easily bend and will not hold an edge well at all. Each steel and stainless steel have their own HRC tolerance level Going above or below its HRC tolerance makes for a bad knife blade.
