Maytag Dehumidifiers - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
The orange full light is
This problem is usually caused by an improperly installed water collection bucket or the float valve inside the top of the bucket is broken or stuck in the DOWN position.
To troubleshoot this, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Remove he bucket, check the float valve's position. If it stuck in the UP position, jiggle the handle to make it return to the DOWN position. This will also allow you to determine if the float is broken. If all this checks out, reinstall the bucket "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. It must make contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the back wall of the holder. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all. Plug the unit in and turn it ON. If everything was done correctly, the unit should start within a few seconds.
Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thnanks for choosing FixYa.
My Maytag dehumidifier filter doesn't ever get dirty why
Unless you have it installed in an especially dirty area, the filter hardly ever gets any appreciable accumulation of dust and dirt. The manufacturer turns on the clean filter reminder after so many hours of operation. Never is it indicative of detected dirt clogging filter. Just hit the filter reset button on the control panel

How do I know what year model portable dehumidifier I have?
Contact Maytag to ask.https://www.maytag.com/services/contact-us.html Check if it was recalled as were many dehumidifiers due to a fire hazard, as it did not appear in lists on the internet, but that is something to be certain about.FIXYA questions in 2010 suggest that model number was manufactured at least that many years ago.

Humidity sensor
It may be right. Are you sure you need dehumidification?
Put a free-standing humidity meter near the unit to check.
If you still want to run the dehum, take the humidity sensor out of the line and control the unit with a timer.
EHUMIDIFIER RUNS FINE BUT NO WATER IN BUCKET
I had the same problem and went for the s**t or bust option, worked for me.... The pipe that feeds water into the bucket had become 'silted' (clogged up and causing water to flood the floor) so I shoved a pencil up it and wiggled it about. Has been perfect ever since.
Dehumidifier frosting up
It needs gas.
Quite simply the only way it can freeze up is when the refrigerant gas is getting low to the point when it starts super-expanding at the evaporator.
Any authorised refrigeration technician should be able to top it up, and check it for leaks - there may be a seal that is partially shot, or possibly a leaky joint / pipe / compressor. A refrigerant leak detector will track this down quickly.
Only thing is - get a quote for the work first - sometimes refrigerant is pricey enough to make it close to not worth it on some units.
Unfortunately this is not something you are permitted to do yourself (topping the gas up, not the leak checking) due to environmental legislation.
Good luck, it should be worth doing, otherwise it will probably continue to get worse until the compressor fails, maybe quite quickly.
Hope this helps :)
