The pcb inside the battery has a microcontroller that monitor the charges and charge cycle. When the cell falls below a certain voltage, it will instruct the charger not to charge and will show with a red-green flashing light. If the battery has been tried 3 times in succession then the pcb will brick itself from the makita charger. So first replace the bad cells. I don't really know how a chuck works. I use them often on a drill press, cordless drills, etc. My grandfather always said to "check the simple things first." Could something have gotten in the way like saw dust, dirt.....? ? I might suggest trying using compressed air and blow it out? You can buy a can of compressed air at office depot.

You can try the website makitauk.com select parts then choose your tool. Unfortunately it does not break the gearbox down to any detail as it can only be obtained as a complete unit.

Lithium Polimer batteries are 3.7volts per cell. They need specialist charging and protection. Maybe not the best choice ...

There is a ceramic Fuse inside the unit that might be blown. It is the first thing on the circuit board near the power cord connection.

Are you sure you do not have a tourque adjustment problem. If not I do not believe Makita will want to send you parts,you would have to know what is precisely wrong and by the time you went back and forth you might as well find nearest dealer for repairs and google search Makita.com for service parts near you + zip code to get your drill fixed.

Yes, because the voltage and amperage input to the charger is constant, so the board management dumps excess charge once the battery is fully charged. The battery cools, but the charger warms up. Mine does the same. It is a 15 minute charger, so the current is high.

I think your tryiong to charge NIMH batteries oon a charger designed for Lithium Ion batteries. With all the new style batteries such as NICAD, NIMH and LI-ION, charging becomes difficult. Most chargers pre NIMH and LI-ion, were designed for NICAD's. The best advise, match your batteries with the correct charger

Hi. Just to clarify, it is a rotary hammer drill, not an impact drill? In most cases those machines put out 3 joules of energy on the back of the drill bit. If it was a cheap bit, the hammer action "mushrooms" the end of the bit making it difficult to remove. You could try to force it out using a bench vise, but you could damage the chuck.
