Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Cellphones. The only place to get the PUK Code is from Leica. They lock it with a 128 bit RSA Encryption code so you can't use it. You pay the monthly fee and they will unlock. You are basically renting it from them, and if you don't pay, they lock it to stop you using it. They also lock it on behalf of the person leasing it, if it had been stolen from a work site. There is no way around it and no-one else can unlock it but them. The code is also in the original documentation that came with it. Did you ever find a fix for this? My Leica Disto A5 is doing exactly the same thing!

A short in the switch or wire

if it is still under warranty then you are simple if you do not have it repaired under warranty it could be a major fault but as soon as you carry out a fix the warranty is void regardless of the fault while everything else appears to be working , there could be something else somewhere that is the actual cause of your problem
