: What equipment do I need to buy so that my son is prepared for his first day of soccer?
One of the reasons
soccer is a great sport is because it requires so little gear. Like in any sport, you should make sure your
son is equipped with a large water
bottle and that he wears shorts and a t-shirt that are breathable. If he is just starting out, he doesn't need
to have cleats yet. It's better for
beginners to learn to play without cleats so that they don't injure themselves
or their teammates. The most important
piece of equipment is shin guards that are fitted to the length of your sons
lower leg.

What is offside?
Offside is a very controversial offense in soccer. A player will receive a penalty if caught by
a ref and it can make goals considered invalid.
It is when the offender makes a shot for the goal when none of the other
teams defenders are next to or in front of him.
