Did you ever figure it out? Because I just did exactly THAT!! Arghh! Would love to know if you've found a solution. It's been such a long time and I started putting it together before I found all the parts and now can't for the life of me remove the basket!

General instructions: clean the basket-filter-screening of your Singer Juice Giant Model 774: First, unplug the juicer from the power source and disassemble it. Remove the pulp container and the juice jug. Locate the basket-filter-screening and gently twist it counterclockwise to remove it from the juicer. Rinse the basket-filter-screening under running water to remove any pulp or debris. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any remaining residue. Rinse the basket-filter-screening again and dry it with a clean towel. Reassemble the juicer. If you need more detailed instructions, you can refer to the manual for your product

There is a spring operated probe that goes into the base and is part of the safety interlock. Yours is stuck. Funny, I answered this question yesterday. Remove the lid and spray in some WD40 into the hollow exterior channel part of the bowl. Then operate the spring with a cocktail stick or similar. The spring isn't rising to release the bowl from the base.
