Looking for a oil filter
I don't think fram has a filter for it, but you can get the filter at NAPA, Lowes, Home Depot, O'Riley's, Sears, or any small engine shop. According to Sears Parts website the model # that you gave has a Briggs and Stratton model # 445577-0284-e1 engine; however a B & S or Kohler engine manufacturer's filter with fit your engine. They are interchangeable. The B & S part number is 696854 or 120485.
Hope this helps. Please vote yes if it did. Thanks

OK - let's work through this. If you need choke all the time then the mixture is too weak when the choke is off. Putting the choke on literally chokes off the air supply to the engine by lowering a small shutter across the entrance to the carburettor. That means either there is too much air getting to the engine (don't see how!!) or too little fuel. So, how do we get too little fuel? You could check for this as follows;
- before we do anything tricky let's check the obvious things - is there a fresh fuel mix in the tank? Petrol does go off, especially if there is 2 -stroke oil added to it. If it's over a month old from the pump mix up a fresh batch. Is the idle speed set too low so the engine stalls when the choke is knocked off? You can see this screw to one side of the carburettor (you need to remove the top lid in front of the handle on the chain saw, and then remove the air filter to see it). Turn the screw half a turn clockwise to speed the engine up. Be warned - if the engine starts it will run faster than normal and that means the chain may start to spin around. Also - check that the chain brake is off (i.e. the safety lever is pulled backwards, and that the chain is free to move BEFORE you attempt to start)
- is the fuel filter blocked? To get to this, make a wire hook (e.g. thick fuse wire) and gently hook out the fuel filter that's sitting at the bottom of the fuel tank, and take a look at it (be gentle - you can damage the gauze if you are clumsy). Does the gauze look clear? I.e. if you dip it into petrol it will freely run into the filter and of course drain out when you lift it? If not, replace it.
- next stop - are the jets in the carburettor set right? I don't have a service manual for this (and I know the manual says unhelpfully "return for service") but basically you will have seen two holes on the side of the chain saw (below the handle) two small 0.8cm holes; one marked 'L' (for low speed) and the other 'H' (for high). Put a fine flat screwdriver down the L hole and feel for the slot of the low speed jet. Once engaged turn it out half a turn and this will enrich the mixture - if this seems to help and you can start the engine then adjust the L jet in or out until the engine is idling comfortably. If it idles too quickly then you can also turn down the idle screw (see previous paragraph).
- no luck still? Well, it could be fuel pump or a blocked jet in the carburettor but this really is a 'return to the service centre' task!
Good luck!
I have a Husqvarna z454 that wont turn on.
Quick an easiest way to isolate the problem whether fuel or spark/compression is with starter fluid (or carb cleaner or flammable brake clean).
To use starter fluid, remove the air filter and set aside. Set throttle low/choke off. Spray a 1 second burst directly into the intake. Leave air filter off and promptly start.
If it fires and runs a few seconds and dies then likely no fuel delivered from carburetor. Remove spark plug, if dry them no fuel delivered from carburetor. Check operation of anti afterfire solenoid, water in carb fuel bowl, other.
If it does not run then either flooded, no spark, or low compression. Remove spark plug. If plug is wet then either too much fuel, no spark, or no compression.
Where to get rings for Husqvarna 145bt?
The problem is that the engine is a funny size at 40cc. If it was 50cc, you could get away with motorcycle rings. The normal way to size rings is by measuring the bore with an inside micrometer across left to right and then again front to back. The front to back measurement is often a little more worn. Then you order rings by diameter and thickness, Any local engineering company can do this and supply you with generic rings.
There is a different model here with rings at $25 but Jack's Small Engines is $57. My advice is get the OEM ones. You will also need to hone the bore lightly to dull the polish. Oil the new rings with 2 stroke oil when fitting them.

Husqvarna 125b keeps flooding and will not start...why?
Weak spark or no spark or spark at wrong time. Do not use a neon type spark tester as it will indicate spark when it is insufficient. Use an inline gap type tester.
To test for spark, compression, and timming, drain all the fuel, choke off and give the the starter several pulls. If the plug is wet, leave plug out and give it several pulls, reinstall plug and give it several pulls, then check plug. Repeat until all residual fuel is gone and plug remains dry.
Now that all fuel is gone you can use an alternative fuel, i.e. starter fluid, that won't flood the engine.
Air filter removed, hold throttle open and spray a 1 second burst directly down the carburetor throat, release throttle. Leave air filter off and promptly attempt to start, several pulls. If no fire then it's likely a spark or compression issue, not the carburetor.
If it fires and runs for a few seconds, then timing, compression, and spark are OK and carburetor remains suspect.
Comment for further assusrance.
