There should be a textured seperator pad, if that's worn out, replace it. Also check the ADF rollers should not be smooth. You may need to just replaced the ADF maintenance kit. It should include the roller assembly and seperator pad.

12year old PC, no OS stated, but the game is vista or older, so do ask the game maker for supporton YOUR UNSTATED OS, w7 to 10 will fail, I bet.
