Your mechanic is right and the error code means SMALL EVAP leak. This is usually the gas cap. Make sure it is tight, it might need replaced. It might take a while to go out too.

check sparkplugs,air filter fuel filter replace them all and clean the mass airflow sensor in the intake tube after the air filter.you need to establish a baseline first before proceeding.

Disconnect power switch and then use an ohm meter to check if continuity is there when the switch is "on" position and open when off. If switch checks out the problem lies with the brushes in the motor - see if you can replace them to restore motor operation.

You would need to drop the oil pan to remove the con rod bolts to be able to remove the piston. Sounds like you have the heads off. You would then pull the piston out drop a new one in (will need a piston ring compression tool) reconnect and torque the con rod. Reinstall heads and other xompnenets. Not sure how long or even if it will run as there could be other damage.

Move the fuse tap to a fuse that powers off when the engine is off

Check the idle control module for proper operation. A diagnostic est will throw a code if it isn't.

it sounds like your heater moter has a short try unpluging it
