Check the fuel filter for blockage and check the plugs for spark. If no spark, you could have bad coils. Here is a video on how to go through the checks.

It appears that the back-light, a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tube about 3mm diameter, is not working. There are two likely causes. 1. Tube has failed. 2. High Voltage supply circuit has failed. I'm currently pulling my unit apart to determine the cause. I suspect the tube is the problem but I will post more when I have it apart Does anyone know what the correct operating voltage of this Cold Cathode Fluorescent Tube is? Northstar could not provide me with a service manual. The screws are 1/16" or similar Allan Screws (about 1.6mm internal between flats). They usually can be undone with a 1/16 Allan Key but some of the screws can't be unscrewed with this key. I'm having difficulties uploading the photos at the moment but I will try and fix that.

You only need the red and black wires to supply power to the unit. The red positive wire goes to a positive terminal on your battery or positive side of a bus bar or switch, the black negative wire goes to the negative terminal on the battery or negative common bus bar. Do not try to earth the black wire to an aluminum boat hull... You are asking for trouble! Best to run the black wire straight back to the negative battery terminal or negative bus bar that is wired to the negative battery terminal. The other colored wires on the 160C plug are used for interfacing with NMEA2000 compatible devices, like a compatible GPS.

most the time its a bad key pad when unit wont power on and what it cost to repair you can buy another one check the pins in the power cord see if there not broke or bent yes they break take a 12 volt test light see if you have power going to power in the plug that connects to back of unit if you have power . . .bad key pad

dirty carbs ! reeds broken will spit back through the carbs ! crank seals worn can let engine run away !

most likely cause of failure is water got into the motor.

Replace the mecanical fuel pump! The membrane is leaking. If you're 'good' in mechanics, change the diaphragm only/ Part 68V-24411-00-00 You'll find the pump on the camshaft cover.

if the existing tank is above the engine the no unless you have some sort of pump that can move the fuel from the tank to the carby if the motor has an ob board fuel pump then it would be no problem
