Would guess it is either worn motor brushes or overheating or both. When the brushes are worn, they glaze and get hot and then lose contact. They are a great make and well worth getting repaired and serviced. Check the motor compartment to clean out dust if needed, motor brushes, relay and filters. It's a good idea to service your power nozzle once a year too.

This can be because you need to adjust the tension or probably the pulley is no longer aligned.
So find out if the shaft is no longer straight also if the belt requires tension.

No one says the output voltage and amperage, you just buy them for the Bex Bissell unit. They are dual voltage in 110 to 220. If you have the old one, it will be written in tiny writing on the charger, usually white writing on the face and engraved on the inner surface where the pins are. Take off the brush cover. Gently grip the sock with your fingers or a pair of pliers. Pull the sock out in the direction opposite to the rotation of the roller brush. there is a reset button on the side of the lower base of the machine, plug in the unit turn on the switch to the brush and vacuum are both engaged hit the reset button, remember the roller will not engage when the handle is in the upright position, release the handle and your ready to go.let me know if that helped you . thanks renevacdoc

I had the same problem. Red light would come on after charging was complete. On investigation I found that there is a small gray wire that runs from the rear batteries to a large solder spot on the control board. Upon re-soldering this wire I got an additional 3 V of power and the red light does not come on anymore after it is charged. I can vacuum the whole house and then some and still not run the batteries down.
