Is this Doctor Who a continuation of the original show or a reboot?

It is a continuation of the original Doctor Who and the 1996 TV Movie Doctor Who. Intimate knowledge of the Doctor's past adventures and incarnations is optional and is not needed to understand the current incarnation of the show, however several characters and past doctors are reintroduced and referenced throughout the show's run. A passing familiarity with the eight Doctors who came before doesn't hurt, and the series itself provides the occasional overview of past Doctors.

Who is the Doctor?

The Doctor is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. He travels through time and space using a craft called the TARDIS, usually with a companion (or two), averting any crisis he comes across using science, technology, and wit. As a Time Lord, he has the ability to regenerate, to change his appearance when near death. This mechanism has allowed the show to change lead actor every few years while retaining the same main character. It is known that he had wives (including Elizabeth I and Melody Pond) and it is widely held that he graduated from the Prydonian Academy and he had a grandchild called Susan, but most other things remains a mystery.

Has the answer ever been "Blue Whale"?

Yes, on the K Series episode, "Kinetic". The question was "What is the largest animal on Earth?" and Alan did not answer. (He was beaten to the buzzer by Marcus Brigstock.) Alan was (understandably!) very frustrated afterward. And in one of the F episodes in season 6 ("France"), Stephen Fry asked Alan a question in French ("Tell me the name of a large marine animal that can't eat anything bigger than a grapefruit") to which the correct answer was Blue Whale, but because it was in French, Alan didn't understand it.

Is there really a Pirate Summit?

No, that was a mis-translation in an earlier subtitle version of one episode. It was actually a figure of speech that goes "See you at the top" where "top" can easily be mistaken for "summit" in Japanese.

Does this anime follow the manga's storyline?

There are tiny changes in certain story arcs as well as an addition of filler episodes that usually take place after a canon story arc. or sometimes within a story arc. Occasionally some of the manga material that is removed is due to the material being inappropriate for the anime. However the plot and flow of the anime remains true to the original manga's plot and story. There are rare moments when a plot element in the anime contradicts the material in the manga but that is usually before the manga chapter to where that plot element becomes known is officially released, so there is no way for the show's production crew to know of this. This consisted of Zoro's ability to cut steel prior to the release of the Alabasta Arc chapters and the limit to Chopper's Rumble Ball consumption prior to the manga chapters of the CP9 saga.

Who are the main antagonists on the show?

That would depend on your point of view. The most frequent antagonists are the criminals and gang members that appear on the show. However the show is very clever on how it perceives each of it's characters on which of them are actually bad. The strike team members, do an excessive amount of heinous acts, although most people are rooting for them. Other police officers, including Aceveda, Claudette, Dutch and Kavenaugh all try and catch the Strike Team members in criminal acts, portraying them as the antagonists. Although for the most part, when not interacting with the Strike Team, these characters are shown to be protagonists.Even the Strike Team members are shown to be antagonists from time to time. Vic and Shane are both shown to be very dark characters at different points in the show. Especially in season 7.

Is Farmington real?

There is no actual district anywhere in Los Angeles called Farmington, however many people believe that it is based on South Central which is the gang capital of the world. The Strike-Team is based on Rampart Division's CRASH unit, a corrupt anti-gang unit which, when it existed, had 18 different teams, one for each district.

What are some key differences between the original series & Season 10?

While the original show tended to throw viewers into the action and make them catch up, Season 10 features more explanation, voiceover and exposition to make things more easily understandable to the viewer. There are also some subtle differences in the characters of Mulder and Scully.

How graphic is the violence?

The violence isn't anything worse than you'd see on regular cable. They show very little and leave most of it to the imagination. They cut away from the scene before something gruesome is about to happen. There is a considerable amount of blood and dismembered bodies, though. But not more, for instances, as more teen-targeted shows like "Buffy" or "Xena".

What happened to Dexter that made him a psychopath?

He and his brother witnessed their mother murdered with a chainsaw in a cargo container as children. They were found days later in a pool of blood that was 2 inches deep. He was taken in by Harry Morgan, who saw him for what he was, a sociopath. Harry taught him a code of ethics that helped him to satiate his bloodlust successfully and also help rid his little section of the world of other serial killers who could escape the justice system. His brother was taken in by the state and was never trained the way Dexter was.

They are based on the Worth Valley Railway near Keighley in West Yorkshire (http://www.kwvr.co.uk/) and are often in use for the public to travel in during special events.
