Ok after three hours I figured it out. Once you have the hook in the position and all that is left is to apply pressure to press it in. Instead of using your hand like the directions and the instructional video shows. You have to put your foot in the back of the body and put your knee against where you hand is suppose to push and push using your knee with your foot in the back of the body as support. This whole body force snaps it in.

Question edited for clarity. It looks like it is made by Gemmy.
Question moved to Gemmy category.
Is it this one?
The problem with Gemmy is that 12 months after a release they cease all support as though it never existed!
Please don't just replace items, "because you might as well and it MIGHT fix it".
There is very little practical help, but a few observations and guesses. Does it really have a battery pack? If so they will likely be rechargeable batteries, or you can add a set of Lithium Energizer. However in my experience they are not battery powered but have a mains adapter and a lead. I can guess the lighting, would guess there is a bulb and a motorised colour wheel and a bunch of fibre optic cables going from the base up the pole to the sign. If the 'bulb' is an LED Module, that will be harder, but an incandescent bulb can be tested with a multimeter.
Or take it to a local model shop, they will know a Gemmy repairer.

Take it to a local model shop. They will know someone that fixes them. The company assumes no responsibility after the products are launched and don't do repairs.
There is no On/Off switch on the train. Power goes from wall plug to transformer, then from transformer to track clip, which must be attached to the track. A control line goes from the track clip to the controller. Mine has a green light just above the red On/Off button that will come on even if the engine and tender are not on the track. The tender does all the work, and must be connected to the engine and on the track. There are four sliding contacts between the tender wheels that provide contact with the track.
take away the globe from the top magnet, then use your two hands to hold the globe, gradually close to the top magnet, pls note the floating distance is about 2cm, when you feel the balance, release your hands gently, finally, you succeed in floating it well. Congratulations!
