6. If it has a HDMI port, connect a Roku device to it. My Vizio Smartcast lagged and I was astonished how much my Roku device was more responsive than Smartcast.

Sometimes they will give you a couple of minutes of video and audio at the beginning of a programme. It isn't a television issue, it is your cable provider and a sales technique.
