Remove the side panel (key number 21) the dust cover (key number 23) guide holder (key number 29).

Use a 19MM or a 3/4 inch deep socket with a long extension and ratchet. This will keep your hand out of the way.
Now rotate the arbor counter clockwise and deflect the top edge of the belt downwards onto the arbor to catch the grooves.
Continue to work the belt around and checking at the motor shaft.
Once the belt is in place work it down by deflecting the top edge of the belt.

Could be motor failure

To reattach the return spring on your Hitachi C12LSH miter saw, follow these steps:

You have to loosen, NOT remove, two bolts on the blade cover so it rotates just enough to give you access to the spindle bolt holding the blade on. Check this web page for the user manual. There are User Manuals available, but I can't find a Service Manual. The link my work better for you based on where you live. The other alternative is to get it serviced locally. Possible causes:- Tires: If the tire(s) on the front or rear pulleys are worn, torn or have chuncks out of them, the blade can slip off.- Pulley(s) out of line: If either or both pulleys are out of alignment the blade will work it's way off. This could be caused by a worn pulley hub; a worn or broken pulley axel; or worn, broken or frozen bearings where the axels turn. On the drive pulley this could include the bearings on the drive shaft or the boss where the bearings fit into.- Blade: If there are any kinks or slight bends in the metal they could cause the blade to work off the pulley.
