I am by no means an expert. I have an electronic background. I have been looking at my mother in laws iron and noticed a few things about it. Check the foot pedal switch. it is easy to acess. Lay machine on its back and remove the two screws and the cover. If you have a continuity test just make sure the switch changes states when you push it. Hope this helps

My Rowenta valet steamer 1550W trips my electricity every time I plug it in.

RCD or MCB that is tripping? If MCB the iron is overloading the circuit, usually a short circuit and is often related to the power cord. If RCD power is escaping from the circuit to ground and is usually caused by an internal water leak.

Need to disassemble the Phoenix Gold Model LB-113 Steam Iron. All the visible screws out, but cannot access upper handle to check steam switch. Iron is little over one year old.

I am not familiar with the model but I have dismantled a fair number of steam irons - manufacturers are invariably devious in hiding the screws and generally the more modern the iron the fewer are the screws. Over the years I have needed to prise off various pieces of trim to reveal screws - commonly there has been one revealed by removing the temperature control knob. The last one was held together by only two screws accessed after removing the rear terminal cover. The cable had to be removed and the terminal screws - then the rear of the upper shell would lift far enough to clear all obstructions and be pushed forward to release the front and then lifted clear.

My iron doesnt have a on/off switch, so how do you unplug it without getting sparks?

you won't unless you install a switch in line of the power cord. in other words put a switch on the cord. You can get them just about any where ACE walmart Home depot. The reason it's doing that is because the heating element is being told to heat up right away. it's not going to hurt anything. it is a good idea to have a switch though

My Rowenta iron will not heat up. The yellow light

Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

Why is my linen dress shiny after ironing at the linen setting?

The fine fibres at the surface of linen stand up like the bristles on a brush. Light coming into the fibres gets trapped. When you iron the linen, you flatten the fine fibres. Incoming light no longer gets trapped in the spaces between the fibres and instead is reflected (bounced back) like on a mirror. That is why linen looks shiny after ironing. To prevent this, use a damp cloth on top of your linen when ironing. This will flatten (iron) the linen material but not compress the fine fibres. Good look.

How to dismantle Russel Hobbs RHI225 steam iron

Press the self clean button , hold it there, and gently move the iron to and fro, over the basin or bowel. CAUTION: Keep clear of the escaping water and steam. Water and steam will wash scale and dust through the soleplate, and into the basin or bowl. When the water tank is empty, release the self clean button . https://au.russellhobbs.com/pdf/19840au_-_colour_control_iron.pdf

I have rowenta DB5080 iron and if I walk away for one minute it shuts down. Also it doesn't seem to retain its heat level for extended p eriods of time.

They are built to shut off after about 30 sec or so if the iron is not moving and the iron is in pressing position (sole plate down). They shut off if they are not moving and standing with the sole plate vertical, in about 5 minutes. If you move the iron (like ironing) they reheat. If it doing something else the electronic control is defective. It is cheaper to replace than repair.
