Top fin aquarium stand...29-36 gallon...doors on base cabinet will not stay closed
30 gallons of water weighs 300 lb and then there is the weight of the aquarium itself and accessories - that is a lot of weight that is likely to distort even a robust cabinet if it isn't standing on a perfectly flat and level floor, the most common reason why cupboards, cabinets and chests of all sorts never seem as good at home as in the shop.
Another possibility if the unit arrived as a flat pack, perhaps the attention to detail during assembly was less than precise...

Can I feed my fish cat food?
I do not recommend feeding your fish anything other thanfish food. Fish food is specificallydesigned to be nutritious and digestible to fish. You cannot say the same about any otheranimals' food. If you are out of fishfood, you can feed fish soggy bread crumbs for up to 24 hours before theyrequire something more substantial.b>

What is the difference between a filter and a pump in a fish tank?
A filter maintains a natural environment that for fish thatbalances the good and bad bacteria in the tank. Additionally, a filter can remove toxins, chemicals and other unwantedmaterials from the water. The filterworks by taking water in from the tank and returning it clean.A pump is just a pump. It pumps air into the tank and creates bubbles, and sometimes a current. It does not clean the tank or balance thebacteria and PH like a filter does.

What is an external aquarium pump?
External aquarium pumps are very powerful pumps that pull water out of the aquarium as well as return filter water back to the aquarium. In addition, external pumps are used in order to run protein skimmers and different types of filters such as canister filters.

Aquarium Heater instructions
Your going to need a thermometer, I suggest the simple kind that's just a sticker changing colors telling you the temp, in expensive and works. Most fresh water fish like 70-76Fdeg water, saltwater fish around 60F. if the thermometer reads too low, just plug it in, turn the temp adjustment knob just until the light comes on, wait for 10-20 mins, check your temp again and repeat steps if your still too low. once set, you shouldn't have to touch it again for a long time. Higher freshwater temps in the 80's stresses the fish out, and makes their metabolism run fast. They will live, but they will also require more feedings. Too low and they will become sluggish. Completely normal. Main thing is to keep them comfortable, don't try to change the temp to quickly. That stresses them as well. 5-10deg change over and hour is usually fine for most fish. The heater is primarily used to prevent a too low temp "below 60F" if you set it to 65, you should be just fine, you house will warm the tank up in the day time in most cases and the cycle in temp helps the fish to determine daytime and nighttime better.
