Bulb went off suddenly, put new batteries in, still didn't work. Took pliers and unscewed to four posts by the globe, popped it off, twisted the bulb and it came on. Tried to unscrew it, but was too secure in the lamp, but at least I got the dam thing to work again.

Self repair can be dangerous, as the capacitor packs quite a charge. For safety, I would find a replacement.

If it is the yellow floating lantern you have to remove the black plastic stub on the underside of the reflector using needlenose pliers to wiggle and slightly pull until it releases and the bulb will come out. There will be a section of the body that unscrews. From the photo it looks like that might be the narrowest section of the torch.
