Cant move caulking gun handle
There should be a thumb release on the shaft at the handle end, press with your thumb and then pull back with the other hand on the shaft. If you have a used tube in the gun, it could be that some of the caulk came out the inside of the tube and hardened so that you cannot pull back the shaft, you will now have to cut the tube off with a utility knife to remove the old dried caulk
Applied DAP latex with silicone caulk around
Try using the dap window caulk. The window was probably washed just prior to you applying caulk and was not totally dry. The dap I mentioned should work in this situation. I used to use the cheapest caulk I could find...mistake! There are different caulks that do different things, add moisture and... I'm sure you get the pix.
My answers are short and sweet. Common sense mostly. If you are trying to get something for nothing...Don't waste my time! Remember if something sounds to good to be true that it usually is. I've spent many years of my life trying to cheat the system and was pretty good at it. This all changed when I discovered that people were doing the same thing to me. What comes around, goes around. Karma! Now I assist people in making win-win deals...that are legit!

Glue sticks do more than you think!
I'm renovating an RV that has water damage around the windows I used joint compound to make the walls textured to hide most of the ripples.
But when I put up wallpaper, I put the glue stick glue directly on the outside edges of the wallpaper to form a smooth finish.
Glue sticks work on almost anything. I always keep one with me.
Un insulated walls
That insulation is a very sticky mess. The hole size that you want to drill is not going to be big enough. You are going to have to get creative with trim and you should use a dry blow in insulation. The R value of the expansion foam is not as high as a blown in substance. Also using the expansion foam will leave gaps in the open space.
