It is sensing, and that you have something that needs a 'Delicate' setting, or a 'Woollens' setting. It provides water and very little agitation that might damage or stretch the clothes. Read the manual.

Fiona, could it be that your'e using Liquid color-safe bleach as it is thicker than chlorine bleach and will not dispense properly from the chlorine bleach dispenser?
And did you Remove the inserts from the drawer. The inserts are the detergent selector and covers of the softener and bleach dispenser.. and clean and replace them?
Tis really hard not being there and being able to see the unit.

Washer will not drain:
The drain water pump is the main part in your washing machine that pumps out the water. If this is defective or has failed in any way, this will be the reason why your washer will not drain the water. Before you order a new drain pump, make sure to check the pump to be sure a small object like clothing or similar has not lodged itself inside of it causing the NO DRAIN issue and even a no spin issue?. If the drain pump is not clogged, you can test it with a multimeter and remove and replace if needed.

The washing machine drain hose is where the water flows through to get the water out. If this drain hose is blocked, kinked, bent, or clogged, the washer will NOT be able to remove the water from the tub. Check the drain hose to be sure it allows the water to flow freely. You can take the drain hose off and run water through it in your sink to be sure it is not blocked. If there is water STILL in the washer when you remove the drain hose, grab a bucket as the water will exit from where you disconnected it
The water pump belt (to drain out the water) may have broke or become frayed or loose. If this belt breaks then it is unable to drain and remove the water from your washer. Inspect the belt to see if this is causing the NO DRAIN issue and remove and replace if needed.
If the lid switch is not working as required it will cause your washer to not drain (and many other problems). This may be unlikely as a bad lid switch will usually cause your washer to also not agitate or spin. However on some models this can vary. The best thing to do if you have a suspected bad lid switch is to test it. It can fail electrically and or mechanically. If mechanical failure is the issue, you should be able to see if it is cracked, broken, or not in place to make contact with the lid. To test it electrically, use a multimeter set on Ohms and test it for continuity

Laundry Washer or Dishwasher?
If it is a dishwasher, it sounds like the Flood Sensor is stopping the cycle. There is a tray between the floor and the underside of the basin. If it is a Dishwasher, you just need to find the leak and fix it.
For a Laundry washer, it is a problem with the control board and needs professional diagnosis and repair.

Does it fill, stop, have a space where the wash would take place and then drain, fill, and do the rinses, but no agitation? It sounds like the motor, or the control board / control knob depending on the unknown model. You need a service call if power resetting doesn't make it work.

Sounds very similar to having something such as a sock or small article of clothing that is too large to be sucked down the drain hose into the pump. So what happens is it hangs around between the inner and outer drums and sometimes gets itself lodged over the drum drain hole, and can allow water to be centrifically flung over the top of the drum. Most times when the spin cycle stops, the article of clothing will dislodge and float around inside the drum only to do it again later.... If you can remove the top of the machine, you can usually see the gap between the two drums and use a piece of coathanger wire with a small hook on the end and "go fishing in the area between the two drums and close to the drain hole location... bet you'll find something in there... That is probably a door lock error. It could be that the door was not completely closed while running. A piece of clothing might be stuck in the doorway. The lock mechanism may have failed. It could also be that the lock position sensor didn't communicate properly with the washer control board.
Note: if the error was 5d, that indicates "suds". Too much detergent was in the machine. Try running the washer with no clothing or detergent added.
