Amana bottom freezer, all working OK, but very noisy freezer. How do I fix it?

There are a few potential causes of a noisy bottom freezer. Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
  1. Check for frost buildup: Frost buildup can cause the freezer to become louder as it has to work harder to keep things frozen. To check for frost buildup, remove all items from the freezer and unplug the fridge. Then, use a hair dryer to melt any frost that has accumulated on the evaporator coils (usually located behind the back panel of the freezer).
  2. Check for loose parts: Some common sources of noise in a freezer are loose screws, washers, or other small parts. Check for any loose items and tighten them as needed.
  3. Check the evaporator fan: The evaporator fan is responsible for circulating air within the freezer. If the fan is not working properly, it can cause the freezer to become noisy. You can check the fan by removing the back panel of the freezer and listening for any unusual noises. If you suspect the fan is the problem, you may need to replace it.
  4. Check the compressor: The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant and cooling the freezer. If the compressor is malfunctioning, it can cause the freezer to become noisy. You can check the compressor by listening for any unusual noises or by checking the compressor with a multimeter. If you suspect the compressor is the problem, you may need to replace it.
If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, you may want to consider contacting a repair service. They will be able to diagnose and fix the issue more accurately.

Can someone tell me how to replace the door latch, I bought a new one but how do I get the old one out. I have already removed the plastic inner face plate.

After any door work, you must use a microwave detector. So I suggest you contact a service company or take to a repair store.

Amana self defrosting upright freezer - drain plug

The subject is a Eureka Model 350 hand held steamer that can be found at Lowes and other places for around $49.95. With this steamer you can thaw out an evaporator as quick as if you were using a heat gun or hair dryer but without the slightest concern about melting plastic or wiring. By using steam instead of pouring water (yes many still do) there is little to clean up. With the many attachments it comes with there are other uses (i.e. cleaning, thawing drains, thawing IDI fill tubes, etc.). The steam also makes the replacement IDI fill tube (rubber end) more pliable and easier to complete the installation when used at the end.
This unit has a trigger and can be used to blow out a stopped up drain on a refrigerator by letting the pressure build up a little then blow through the drain with one of the attachments. As for thawing out evaporators it had a fine jet tip for actually CUTTING through solid ice.
Another great use for this tool is refrigerator door gaskets. The hot steam works faster than a heat gun with out the worry.

Note: Do not aim steam directly onto the plastic freezer liner. The rapid temperature change could damage the liner.

Ice keeps forming on the bottom of the freezer -

When a refrigerator leaks water like yours, it is common for the problem to be nothing more than a clogged defrost drain. When the unit defrosts itself, the frost melt water drips into a pan underneath the evaporator in the freezer, and goes through a tube from there to the bottom outside of the unit. Since the water cant go down this drain, it backs up on the freezer floor, then eventually the kitchen floor.

Frost builts up in the coils

Frost will normally build up if you do not have frost free freezer and in which case it is possible the frost free system is faulty. If it is not frost free then it has to be defrosted a few times in a month. However if the frost comes up very quickly then there are possible causes. You may be having leakage from the door seals or there are items in the freezer that are not properly covered to avoid moisture escaping. Other possibility is that your freezer is set too cold and there are not many items in it.

Frozen water on the bottom of my Amana freezer

Your drain line is clogged. Take a small diameter pice of wire and snake out the drain line from inside the freezer.
You may have to access the back rear near the compressor and separate the drain line there and clean it further.
