I have an HP f 380 printer. it displayed the E and a message appeared on my computer screen saying the tri colour cartridge has a problem. i know it's not the cartridge, because i put it in anotherHP f 380 printer and that one recognised it. so it must be the printer. is there some way to reset it?

Recognition of cartridges depends on several issues. Check and clean the metal contact points on the printer cartridge slot. Use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and pat dry. Do the same on the ink cart. Any oil/film on the contacts can interfere with the communication network of the printer. Sometimes, printers just reject cartridges, mainly if you use off brand products. Naturally HP wants you to use their cartridges! Other than that, you must use HP Software updates for the computer and also, update each HP Printers FIRMWARE. Lots of folks forget that!

Clean the contacts on the cartidge and printer ( open the replace ink door wait for the printhead to come to center and turn off power) if that does not work then replace cartridge, it might be a recycled one that they did not chane the chip.

Try to clean the print cartridge contact points with a good rubber eraser and clean the printer side cartridge contacts with good lint free cotton cloth. Then first insert Black cartridge and then colour cartridge. Use some more pressure while attaching the cartridges.

Hi

If the printer is out of the Box, don not try any other ink cartridges, becoz you must use the HOST ink cartridges that is shipped with the printer for the first time.It seems that it is problem with Host ink cartridge.

You can check the cartridge whether its a Host ink cartridge or normal one by looking at the serial number.If Serial number starts with C9, it Host; if it starts with C8 its normal one.

Only HP can replace it , none of the store sells Host ink cartridges, they sell the replacement ones.
You can either call HP tech support or, return the printer to staples.

Take the cartridges out and clean the electricial contacts with a pencil eraser, the reinstall them.

"Cartridges missing" message problem

Hi,
Probably the ink cartridge is defective and the only way you can solve this is try with another cartridge.

Remove both the cartridges and insert them one-after-another to check which cartridges might be defective based on the blinking lights.

Call HP Support to check if they can replace the defective cartridge for you ( only if you are using Genuine HP Cartridge )

Hp4355 print catridge error

Each cartridge having printing life, as long as cartridge health condition is good it won't gives any trouble. Subjected series printer having mono & colour cartridges,1. Remove both cartridge from the printer 2. Switch on & wait till message appears for insert the cartridges..3. Insert mono(Black) cartridge, close the door & wait till message appears on screen. If message appears same as cartridge error mean that mono cartridge is faulty replace it, if message appears like insert another cartridge, it's confirmed that colour cartridge faulty.. Replace it..

Uninstall the program from your computer. Plug in your printer first replace with new cartridge making sure to remover the film on the cartridge Then plug in patch cord to computer, program should reinstall if need be you may have to have your disk that comes with the printer. Hope this works, Printers are going for very cheap I would suggest buying a new one if this does not work.

I think that spring must have gotten loose that holds the cartridge in place, right hand side, put it back where it belongs, might want to compare with the other, black cartridge side.  Good Luck!

Cannot copy

Remove the colour cartridge and then see : "E" is displaying in its display board. If "E" appear then put it back in carriage and remove black cartridge. If "E" doesn't appear it means your black cartridge is not working properly. and vice versa with colour cartridge. This problem is belongs to cartridge. Try to change them. Problem will automatically solve
