How do i check the battery life of the calculator?

If it is the solar version, expose the face of the calculator to direct sunlight or to a lamp. For the battery version, replace the battery. If that does not work, calculator may be at the end of its useful life.

Ah! that perennial desire for eternity. The calculator uses solar power. It also have a battery. Under normal circumstances you won't need a battery, may be if you are living through a long Nuclear Winter.
Any way, just get a battery with the same characteristics as the one that shipped with the calculator: voltage, thickness, diameter. That is what counts.

maybe you batties are wek and maybe there is something again wrong with the calculator , or maybe you need stronger batteries have you tried that yet.

Possibility: Some third-Party programs (games essentially) are installed on the calculator. They may be ill-designed and circumvent/turn OFF the Power saving features of the calcuator.Also, Texas Instruments recommends to use alkaline (non-rechargeable) batteries only.

On the Galaxy display you could see what is the remaining battery life time as calculated by the software. Normally after you replaced the batteries you are supposed to reset this counter using specific software by the manufacturer. According to your information you have replaced the batteries 3 times in 5 years period. This is not normal. Nevertheless since the last replacement in 2008 it appears that the battery are now reaching the end life, which is generally 3-5 years life expectancy.

I would review the following of the assumption that the UPS is fully operational and the charging system is working.

1. Do a load test or a battery impedance test to verify the batteries are good
2. I would look at the battery life time specification, whether it is 3-5 years, 5-7 years ect.
3. Check the room temperature, every 10 degrees Celcius above 25 deg reduces battery life time by half
4. Check the number of power failures/ duration of these power failures and if possible what load were on the UPS at the time of the power failures.
I hope this will help. If all verifications are to specifications, then most likely it is a software problem

Because the games programs are writen badly and are running even when the calculator is off. Battery life will be extended if you get rid of the games.

I suggest you use rechargeable batteries. They usually drain faster than the alcaline ones anyway.So have 2 sets of rechargeable batteries. Evaluate the number of days a set lasts. Insert the charged batteries before the old ones are thourougly drained.

The life of your batteries in the calculator depends on the usage.

About repairs: I am convinced that it will cost you more to have it fixed than to buy a new HP calculator (HP 49g*'s, HP 50g* 's).

It's written in the back of the calculator, mate ! A TI BA ii Plus uses a CR2032 battery, which is 3V, 60 micro A.
Just go to the shop and give them the battery model.
