In this case, you should download a AVI player to open the avi file, and you could try Leawo Blu-ray Player, which could support a lot of formats including AVI and it's a region-free and 4K player.

Get a DVD burner program, like Nero, then follow the directions.

If you're running Windows, you can download Windows Live Movie Maker, if it's not already on your computer, and use it to convert the AVI's to DVD.

Unable to read mkv and avi video files from usb drive on philips dvp5990 dvd player

what error does it give? mine reads avis fine, as long as theyre within resolution limits. same for windows media format. couldnt get the mkv files to work though. the usb drive has to be formatted fat32, ntfs does not seem to work. burning these files to dvd as a data disc is another option. lets you fit 10+ hours of video on the disc vs your standard 2 or 4 hour max limits.

SAME old! JVC files mod, have converted with prism to avi in the past, with success. Now DVD player says (once) cannot read (next time) not compatible. using DVD-R

Are you talking about a stand alone dvd players?

If you are talking about a stand alone dvd player, that is correct they do not player .avi extension file. I know some portable dvd player can play avi extension files.

all avi extension files needs the right audio and video codec to be player. All stand alone dvd players does not and can not detect codec for you.

On the issues of dvd-r brands, Some stand alone dvd players can only play dvd+r type dvds. ck your brand of dvd disc and players, make sure they are complatible with each other.

DVD PLAYER

Hope it was the non-acetone type of polish remover - acetone will melt plastic !!

Invest in a laser eye cleaning disk - the kind with the tiny brushes.

OK what type of file format are the files in on the disk you are tying to play?

IDM-1731 does not like .AVIs.

Check your documentation as to what type of files your player can actually read and play.

Sorry I'm not more help.
