I have a Panasonic Digicam model NV-GS5 which my son bought for me in Japan. I love the camera but cannot read the manual which is in Japanese. I desperately need to find a manual in English but have been unsuccessful so far. This camera is not sold in the United States. Can anyone help? Thank you!

There should be a Language change option in the Menu. Our Panasonic Mini DV cam has Language options only for English, Spanish, French. If your camera does not have an English option, you may need to call Panasonic Tech Support for help.

It was not known to me the NV-GS200 is a multi-language camera and also in the manual it is not stated. You could try to default the settings (all the above):
menu , [initial] () >> [initial set] >> [yes]

Yes. It probably shorts in the wiring in the hinged area.

most of the nv-gs50 cannot support multi-language (i.e. the ones manu/bought in japan).

you may be able to find a firmware update, but i would not recommend it---i.e. you are stuck with japanese
