E7 Code My danby wine cooler keeps coming up with E7 as a code. What does this mean. I had a leak in the Evap. but repaired that.

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!

Huuum At your service!
Lets try this,
With an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

Let me know how it works! Waiting for your reply!
Please remember to leave a rating when you are done!
Thank You huuum

Compressor getting hot

I have the same cooler with the same problem and I've been researching this for several months now to no avail. It worked trouble free for over seven years before having problems. My local "authorized" Danby repair dealer advised me to: "Chuck it out, the parts are too hard to come by and it's impossible to get any parts or response from Danby". I attempted to contact Danby on my own and their 800 help line is non-responsive/non-existent. Be advised that Danby appears to have become just a middle-man importer now; the units are manufactured in China. Since I've had a problem finding a wine cooler that looks as good as this one that fits in the slot I have for it in my kitchen I decided to try repairing it myself.
I've replaced the circuit board/display and the thermistors with parts obtained through Sears, and the compressor still gets hot and the inside upper and lower temp. will not cool below 61- 64 degrees (+/- 2 deg.), respectively. All the fans are working properly, so I know it's not a fan, thermostat (circuit board) or thermistor problem. I think now it's either the compressor or else a thermoelectric element. I doubt if it is a refrigerant leak because that is least likely in a closed system like this. My only recourse now is to take it in to the local repair shop and have them take a look at those two items or keep looking for a replacement. Hope this helps. Good luck!

E4 code for lower chamber of danby wine cooler

I had the same problem on my DWC513BLS wine cooler (12 years after your original post). I fixed mine after much troubleshooting. If someone have a similar problem, here are the error codes for that unit :

E4 = Defrost sensor defect
E3 = Defrost sensor disconnected
E1 = Lower chamber sensor disconnected
E2 = Lower chamber sensor defect
E7 = Upper chamber sensor disconnected
E8 =Upper chamber sensor defect

To correct E4, I had to replace the defrost sensor with part #DWC276.

Danby DWC283BLS has condensation inside the unit.

wine coolers have no means of draining the condensate inside them,use silica gel(1/2 pint)to keep the inside dry(remember to dry it out when condensate happens again)

E4 Code

Between phone calls to danby and my neighbor, we fixed this problem. My E4 was on the left (lower chamber). If you have one on the right it is the upper chamber. The E4 is a defrost sensor that can be ordered from Danby's distributor (call Danby for the one in your area). The part and shipping were around $30.

If your E4 is on the left...

- remove the top shelves
- open the cover inside the cooler above the digital read outs (the top unscrews)
- inside is were the repacement sensor plugs in
- replace the one with the long cord
- run the sensor down the back to the lower chamber
- replace all covers and parts

If the E4 is on the right...

- remove the top shelves
- look on the right hand wall for a black plastic grate, the sensor is under this grate
- replace the sensor (simple plug and play)
- replace the racks.

Please pass this on, it was a ***** to deal with Danby and I nearly trashed the cooler out of sheer frustration.

E4 Code

Dear moriquenda
welcome to fixya.
Did you try resetting the system by pulling the plug and waiting 5 minutes then restarting the wine cooler?This may solve you problem.

Danby expects customers to call service and does not imagine the rest of the world being able to utilize these codes.
Closed minded, Huh?

Danby Wine Cooler

If you are getting the E4 error code, try replacing the defrost sensor. The part might take forever to get to you, but we replaced the sensor on the wine cooler and it's working.

Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler - Error message E3 & E4

Is the compressor running? I don't know this unit, but know that if you are too warm that is the first thing to check. In reading about another unit that had a different problem, it was mentioned that there is a ciruit board. If it has relays on it then these are the most likely culprit. They are either not making contact or staying in contact too long... sometimes just tapping each relay usually a black plastic component will cause it to work intermittently..Not sure if you can get these but call the company help line at 1-800-263-2629.
