I am using my Casio fx-300MS and have somehow gotten into the display where it puts my answers in exponential form; 5+5 = 1.0 exp10 to the 1. How do I return to getting my answers in standard form?

Logarithm

The Casio FX-300MS does not provide base 2 logarithms as a single key operation. However, you can use the natural logarithm (ln, base e = 2.7182818...) and the formula

log2 ( x ) = ln( x ) / ln( 2 )

To calculate the base 2 logarithm of 16, key in
[ln] 16 [/] [ln] 2 [=]
and get displayed the correct answer 4.

The same simple formula also works for any other base, and actually for any other logarithms provided by your calculator. The FX-300MS also provides a logarithm to base 10 (lg). You could also
type
[lg] 16 [/] [lg] 2 [=] to get the solution to the problem above, or
[lg] 25 [/] [lg] 5 [=] to get the base 5 logarithm of 25.

How do you do an antilog problem on a casio fx-300?

For common logs (logs in base 10) use the 10^x function : Press [SHIFT] [Log] to access it.
For natural logs, use the exponential function. Press [SHIFT][ln] to access it.

How to use antilog by casio fx-82es

The inverse of the log function is the function 10^
antilogarithm of (x)=10^(x)
The function shares the same physical key as the [LOG] function. To access it you press [SHIFT][LOG].

The antilogarithm of the natural log [LN] is the exponential function [e^x]. It shares the same physical key with the [LN] function. To access it press [SHIFT][LN]

I am tutoring a student who uses the Casio fx-300MS. A problem required that he raise (-2) to the 4th power, and the calculator indicated the answer was -16. I know that the answer should be a positive 16,...

Enclose any negative number between parentheses before squaring.
If you enter -4^2, where - is the negation, the result will be -16 because of the priority rules: exponentiation (power) has priority over negation.
If you enter (-4)^2 the result will be 16, because parentheses have priority over the squaring: the 4 is negated then the result is squared.

Fractions

there is a A b/c button. This is the button use to enter fractions. so 4/3 would be entered as 4 |A b/c| 3

If you want to have the answers in fractions as well, then I believe you hit more a few times. And then there should be a display option, in the display option, there should be a b/c. This will show your answers in fractions. Hope it helps

I need to find the antilog to -6.80 on a casioi fx-300ms calculat

Alot of people have this doubt, so I might as well make it clear.

Press the 10^x button (while pressing SHIFT, of course; it's exactly above the LOG button) followed by the number whose antilog you desire.

Example :
Let's say we need antilog(-6.8),
1. Press SHIFT, followed by LOG (i.e 10^x); this'll display a 10 on the screen;
2. Type in -6.8;
3. Press "=";
4. This'll display 1.584893192x10^-7 as the solution, which is correct!
5. Bye, lol :P
