I RECENTLY BOUGHT LG BD 550 ..THE PROBLEM IS I HAVE REGION code 2 DVD WHEN I INSERT DISK, DISPLAY SHOW "CHECK REGION CODE" SO WHAT CAN I DO?

Check current region code
Open the Philips HOME Screen
Type on your remote: 8520
This will display all of the current settings for your player.
Example: Region_Code: DVD(2) BD(B)Change region code
Turn on player with no disk inserted
Press "Open/Close" on the remote control until the tray is open
Press 8689310 - 0 means all region
Press 8689311 - 1 means region 1,
Press 8689312 - 2 means region 2,
Press 8689313 - 3 means region 3,
Press 8689314 - 4 means region 4,
Press 8689315 - 5 means region 5,
Press 8689316 - 6 means region 6.
Now the front Buttons might not work!
Go to SETUP and click on RESET FACTORY SETTINGS
Wait until the player restarts and now you can play all DVD regions

Ok so here is how it was done.

Press the Pause button on your remote control. Using your remote control enter the code 3, 1, 4, 1, 5 and 9, Press the 0 button on your remote control for Region free, 1 for Region 1 or 2 for Region 2. Press the Pause button on your remote control. Power off your player and wait a few seconds. Power on your player
Or
Press the Setup button on your remote control then, Step, Next, Up and Down, select the region of your choice or Bypass for region free, save and then Exit the menu.

1.Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2.Press the 0 button on your remote control seven times, in succession
3.A message should appear on the onscreen display indicating the region has been changed

if that doesnt work try this

Press Setup
Scroll to Lock
Press 0 (7 times)
A message will appear saying it is region free.

these are for a number of LG DVDs if it will work with your blu-ray is another thing, but wont harm to try it

Save the file and then unzip and extract it to your hard drive. Now burn the subdirectory RMTM0000 and its contents (not the text file) onto a CD-ROM (ISO format, "closed" CD-ROM). Insert CD-ROM into the LG BD 370 P player, and when the Region Management System screen is displayed, set the Region Code to "0" using your remote. Once done, press "PAUSE" on you remote to save, and you're done!"

It sounds like you are trying to play a DVD with a different region code than the player is designed to play. See label on rear/back of player and compare it with the DVD disk paperwork.

The fix doesn't work once you have updated the firmware.
If you did the update, you can still go back to the firmware of Aug 2009
(http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=BD390&initialTab=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile).
Once you have installed the past firmware, you can install the hack. Choose region 0 and save.
Then you can update again the firmware to the last release and the multiregion will still work.
