After entering the first function to graph press the down arrow and when the cursor blinks after Y2 type in the second function you wish to graph. After you finished entering multiple functions make sure the graph setting under the window button are set correctly so every function will be visible at the interval you set. After that you hit Graph and you should see your graphs being plotted.

I hope it helps.

After you press enter to graph the function you will not see anything because the y-intercept is at ordinate 254.47. To see anything you need to zoom out.

You will be prompted for the Center of new graph. Move cursor along the y-axis, upward. After a while you will see the graph.

You can also, and it is quicker, to set the graph window

TI-83 Plus Err: INVALID DIM

The calculator is trying to graph points in a list and they are either empty or not the same length.

If you do not want to graph points in a list, go to 2nd, Y= and turn each of the three plots off.

If you are trying to graph points in a list, check that you entered them correctly, they are not the same length, and then check that in the StatPlot menu you are asking the calculator to graph the correct lists.

My graphing calculator dont want to graph its says "ERR: INVALID DIM" What can i do?

You're trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features, while the calculator is trying to do so. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

My calculator wont graph more than one function at a time, how can i fix that?

Hi Lexy,
Chances are, your calculator has a program called "Transfrm" on it that is preventing the calculator from graphing more than one function at a time. Luckily this is easily remedied.

1) Turn calculator on and press the "APPS" key.
2) Scroll down (towards the bottom of the list) and find the "Transfrm" program.
3) With the program highlighted, press the "Enter" key.
4) Highlight the "Uninstall" option and press "Enter".

Once the program is uninstalled, the graphing function of the calculator should be working correctly, allowing you to graph more than one function at a time.

Hope this helps :-)

Cannot graph invalid dim error

This error show up when you are graphing out of the plot menu. If you are not graphing data points from list menu, you need to turn the plots off. In the y= screen, you will see the words plot 1, plot 2, etc across the top of the screen. If one of the plots is highlighted (black box over the words), you need to turn it off. This can be done by arrowing up and highlighting the box and pressing enter. When you arrow back down, the plot should be off and you will be able to enter an equation in the y= lines and graph.

If you are graphing from the plot menu, this error lets you know that one of the lists you are graphing is longer than the other.

Another way to fix the problem is to reset the calculator by pressing 2nd button then plus sign then 7 then 1 then 2. This will reset the calculator however if you are graphing from lists, your data will be erased. Hope this helps.

I dont know how to graph

Hello,
Turn calculator [ON]. If you do not see the menu icons, press [MENU]. Use the arrow keys to highlight the [GRAPH] icon.
An entry screen appears where you enter the functions you want to graph.
On the first line you have Y1= . After the equal sign enter 2[x] [X, theta,T] + 1. When finished press [F6: Draw] Your graph appears on the screen. If you see the axes, but no graph, press [Shift][V-Window] and press [F3:Std] then [SHIFT][QUIT] will take you back to the screen where you enter the functions to draw. There press [F6:Draw].

Hope it helps.

Graphing

Instruction book for this calculator is shocking for sure. It would take too long to explain fully, here is an example of plotting a simple Y= graph.

In main menu, when you first turn it on, press 1
This is normal calculator mode.
Press [shift] [menu] to get the set up parameters.
Scroll curser down one to Func Type, and select Y= if this is not already set, by pressing F1
Continue scrolling down to set Coord, Grid, Axes and Label functions. Turn these on or off as desired. Turn them all off for this example. F1 and F2 select On or Off here.
Press [exit]
Press [shift] F3 to access the V-window parameters. Here you set the size of the axis in the graph
Enter 0 for Xmin, 360 for Xmax, 0.1 for scale
Enter -1 for Ymin, 1 for Ymax, and 0.1 for scale
Press [exit]
Press [shift] F4 to enter graph plot mode (Sketch mode)
Press F1 then [EXE] to clear any previous graphs
Press F5 then F1 to select Y= type graph
Display should show Graph Y=
press [sin] [ X,0,T] (this key just under red alpha key) then [EXE]
Calculator should draw a sine wave, showing 1 complete wave
Try setting the parameters in Set up, Axes On, Label On etc to see the effect.
Hope this helps a little. Page 123 in book deals with graphing.

Graphing

The first solution will allow you to watch your calculator graph two equations simultaneously rather than finishing one before graphing the next; it won't solve the problem of having the calculator unselect one equation when you select a second. To fix that problem, try the following:

In order to select additional graphs, the Transformation Graphing App will need to be uninstalled from the TI-83 Plus Family and TI-84 Plus Family. Uninstalling the App does not erase it from the calculator, it disables it from interfering with the normal graphing modes. Below are the steps to successfully uninstall the App.
  • Press [APPS] key
  • Select Transfrm from the menu
  • Press 1:Uninstall
