My officejet is printing a blank page before every printed page. can you help? How do I correct this? If I am printing a document that is 2 pages long, the printer will spit out 1 blank page, 1 printed page, 1 blank page and then 1 printed page. I've checked all my printing set up and it's all set to print one page, but it always puts out a blank page before the printed page comes out. I have an HP Photosmart 7200 series inkjet printer and it is doing the same thing. I get a blank page and then a printed page and then a blank page and then a printed page. I do not know how to make it stop spitting out the blank pages. We have tried setting it back to the original settings but that does not seem to help.
Ok, I too have HP Photosmart 7280 and it was spit'g out a blank page
after each print page.
I went into the Control Panel/Printers - Right
click on the HP Photosmart 7200 series icon and choose delete. Don't
worry...just delete it.
Right above (Vista) click on Add a Printer - it's going to ask you if you want to add a local printer which is connected via USB connection or if you are set up wireless then choose Network
It will find your printer click on the printer hit next - then this is the most important step
It will ask you to find the manufacturer it shows Hewlett-Packard and underneath it shows HP - Do not click on HP - you'll have the same problem with that driver - choose Hewlett-Packard and find this driver HP Photosmart C7200 series Version 61.71.244.0 [3/23/07]
Hopefully they are all digitally signed with this information.
Click on that driver and click next - then click on replace the current driver and click next.
Print a test page and problem should be solved. Hope it helped!
In my case it was a lot easier than all the above solutions. I had this problem only with the network printer, Photosmart C7280, but not with the one that was connected with USB. I have two laptops: one is 2 yrs old, Vista 32-bit and another one is brand new with 64-bit Vista. You have to make sure you choose Hewlett Packard (not HP) and Photosmart C7200 Series (not 7200 Series) when install network printer. It did the trick for both of my laptops.
I believe this will solve your problem. It did for me.
delete your printing device and reinstall,
when it asks for your driver, let it search for it.
When your options come up, find "HP" then look for "HP Officejet 7200"
DO NOT install "HP Photoprinter 7200".
This should take care of it.
Good Luck!
On the Advanced tab under Properties, make sure "Print directly to the printer" is selected
AH HA! Wow, after some investigating trying to figure out how to fix this problem for myself, I've come across what I hope *crosses fingers* will be a solution.
Open up the Printers folder from Control Panel.
I personally had 2 different entries for the same printer. (One said 'Photosmart C7280', the other said 'Photosmart 7280') Though I had selected the C7280 printer as my default, I noticed while watching the Printers folder that my print jobs were actually going through the non-default printer.
I opened up the printer Properties (not Preferences) page, went to the Securities tab and removed ALL check marks from ALL groups and usernames.
I started printing various jobs and *knock on wood* so far have not run into the 'phantom page' again!
Hope this helps!
In my case, as mentioned previously, when I opened the Printers folder in Control Panel, there were 2 printers listed (though I actually only have 1) And I noticed while watching the Printer folder as I ran a print job that they were actually being run through the NON-default printer. So I removed ALL check marks from the NON-default Printer Properties page.
If you have the same situation (with multiple listings in the Printers folder), it is completely OK to remove ALL check marks from every entry except the one you have designated as your Default Printer. (Yes, I got the same ominous warning message but don't worry - if this doesn't work out for you, you can always go back in and replace the check marks.)
So again, back in my case, since I had 2 printers listed, I left the Default one alone but I removed all check marks from the other entry. I've run at least 30 print jobs so far and haven't had the issue show up at all.
Gacks, I have the same printer, experienced the same problems, and I found a solution to the problem (at least in my case) which I posted to this forum which is here as Solution #2.
Good luck!

omiroshn fix worked for me:Control Panel

I deleted my current default printer
I then went to add a printer
Wireless/Bluetooth option
Picked the Photosmart from the available list
Chose Hewlett Packard (not HP) and Photosmart C7200 Series (not 7200 Series)
finished the install
Fixed my problem. Good luck

You need to uninstall all the printers under CONTROL PANNEL AND PRINTERS then DELETE all C7200 or 7200 printers and fax, then use your disk to reinstall it works or else you can go to www.hp.com and chat live with someone who can help out
Mine was worse. My HPC7280 would print 4 pages between each normal page. On this Vista equiped and Networked laptop I had installed the driver from the HP web site, the C7200 series driver to be exact AND the reccommended update. Please note as other other user mentioned, The PC with the printer connected directly to it via USB worked fine.
To make long story short, since the PC connected to the printer directly worked fine, I remembered that I had loaded the drivers and other **** from HP directly from the suplied CD that came with the printer. So I uninstalled the HP C7200 series driver from the networked laptop, and shoved in the CD from HP and loaded up the driver, the HP troubleshooter, and the HP updater. I selected the advanced user and not the easy setup that downloads all sorts of **** to the hard drive. After about 45 minutes and accepting whatever stupid license agreements form HP I was finished downloading. Even though I selected only the driver, the HP troubleshooter, and the HP updater, a lot of other stuff downloaded also. Anyway, this solved the problem. The HP C7280 with the HP C7200 series driver downloaded from the CD WITHOUT the new update (which is availiable on the HP website) prints fine now. I have unselected the auto updates, just in case there is something wrong with the updated driver
I have found this problem to be stemmed from the default Windows driver for this system. I replaced that driver with the HP driver and it resolved the problem. Here is the link right to the HP website for the proper drivers. I am pasting this to help folks avoid going to NON-HP sites for the driver. Many of these sites try to get you to offer up information or install their "Driver Discover" software. I recommend against installing this type of software on your PC..

hi,
try this
> unplug the usb cable from the computer
> click on "start--> control panel--> printers and faxes"
> select the printer icon associated with your printer and delete it.
> now plug the usb cable to the printer
> wait for few minutes while all the drivers are installed.
thats it... now try to print... it should be resolved
thanks and regards

My HP 3210 shoots out a blank page before printing out anything. It does this every time. How do I fix this? Help, please!
HP Photosmart 7280 has the same problem - prints one blank page for EACH printed page.
printer spits out a blank page between every printed page
I have the exact same problem (with the same printer) and it just started. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver & software and it still does it!
I tried to remove all of the check marks from the default and non-default printer listings, but then I got a warning message that no one would be able to print from the printer. So, I left one check mark for "everyone" to "print", but it still prints the blank pages.
C7280 Does the same
See Solution 5.
Yes, I have the same problem with my Photosmart C7250. It's a real pain and it takes so much time to print! Plus, not all of the pages will re-feed.
