Hi there,

You don't necessarily need anything else, but you may not have a strong enough signal to pick up the digital/freeview channels using an indoor aerial. It could also be that the indoor aerial is not correctly aligned.

If the signal strength is lower than approx. 50%, the TV may detect them during the automatic channel scan but it wont store them. When the signal strength for any digital channel is 50% or lower it's more or less unwatchable - the picture would be constantly breaking-up or freezing and the audio drops out continually. Trying to scan for channels using an indoor aerial is rather hit and miss. Numerous attempts may be necessary before you get any channels.

Assuming you have a roof aerial, it is far easier to temporarily connect the TV to a fixed aerial point while you run the automatic channel scan. The TV will store all the channels and you can then move it to it's permanent location and connect the indoor aerial. You can then adjust the indoor aerial with the channels already stored until you find a location for the aerial where you have a good signal.

Doing it this way also eliminates the possibility of a fault with the TV and confirms that you are performing the channel scan correctly. If the TV is connected to a fixed aerial point and you are still unable to receive or store any channels, then it's likely that you are performing the channel scan incorrectly or there is a fault with the TV.

Please try scanning your channels using a known working fixed aerial point. If you are still unable
to receive any channels - or you don't have any fixed aerial points - please post back for further assistance.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

Im having the same problem only my aerial is outdoor and fixed. The tv will find all channels but when you turn the tv onto standby then back on it has lost some of the channels.

We had the same problem, not being able to store channels after being put onto standby. We have now done a first time install and hopefully have stored the channels again
Go to Menu....General Settings......First time installation.

    Good Luck.

Our telly works but when we turn it off it switches to Scart. There is no scart plugged in and we have to go through source to get tv working. Can we fix this?

I can't record digital tv on the dvd recorder coupled with a new philips tv with built in digital

You need a freeview box to connect to the scart INPUT of the DVD recorder. The Freeview box has to have a programmable timer built in. Connect your aerial to the freeview box, the aerial output then goes into the TV. You program the DVD to the times you want to record each program, but always the input is the SCart. You the program the Freeview box to change to the right program at the beginning of the program you want to record.

I have just moved house to Reading and previously was able to view freeview tv using my old indoor aerial in my 2nd floor flat in london. This indoor aerial didn't pick up any signals, not even analogue,...

You will need to have an outdoor aerial installed, the signal area you're now living in will not be a strong enough reception for an indoor aerial no matter how good or expensive. You could try the indoor aerial in different positions around the room especially by a window to try & pick up some other channels but the long term this will cause some of the programmes to break up or freeze. An aerial on the roof or in the attic will be your best solution to pick up all the digital channels on freeview.

We have had our tv for a few years, cant remember exactly, it is a CTVL26W34ID and we need to know if it is digital ready. Thanks for any help you can give.

I cannot find a manual for that number.
If it is digital you would be able to receive more than the 5 analogue programmes.
It would probably mention freeview on some part of the tv.
If you can get some of the extra freeview channels but not clearly then the aerial will need changing.

I presume you are from the uk, I had to change my aerial to get reception the cost for that was £240(i needed a indoor roof aerial so needed extra boosters).so aerial will be £150-£240.
You can turn your tv into a digital by adding a freeview digital box £20-50 .
Or purchase a new tv with freeview incorporated in it.
So i `m pretty sure if you have read the above you can decide whether its digital, but i think not.

Tv with built-in digital tuner not receiving any channels

Is your outdoor aerial a proper freeview aerial and are you in a strong or weak signal area. You can check here:http://www.stevelarkins.freeuk.com/freeview_digital_tv.htm
Also check your connections as the coax may be shorting with the braid or a bad connection.once checked try ordinary channels on upstairs tv and if ok retune all your digital channels.
This can be due to a few problems.Firstly make sure your aerial is pointing in the right direction as beam aerials attenuate(disregard) signals which are not pointing directly at the aerial.
make sure you are using good quality 75ohm cable i.e rg6 and connections are good and not shorting out.
The length of run of the cable will also affect the signal as will any splitters or joins in the cable.
If you know the signal is good in your area then it will be down to the aerial, cable terminations ,aerial position or a combination of these.
If the signal is poor you can either...Buy a high db gain arial which will amplify the signal and or a masthead preamp which will again boost the signal.
please note that if your aerial is not pointing in the correct direction then any boosting of a bad signal i.e ghosting...will only make it worse.
try starting from aerial direction then connections then a high gain aerial and or booster.

I must be doing something wrong !! My Technika 22" LCD TV goes through the set up process and only picks up the BBC channels , Can anybody tell me how I can view any of the freeview channels ???. They dont...

Hi I am Vortash .. usually the problem is aerial the digital aerial is diffrent to the old UHF aerial and you will need to change it should you still be using it .. from what you say the set is working fine and you didnt do anything wrong .. it is just like unlike the old annalouge signal where you would get a picture even if it was poor .. digital systems are less forgiving of low signal and just blank the low signal channels out .. to check for sure if your not already , use a set top aerial.. and move it about to find the best signal if you get more channels problem found so update your aerial ( Or stand the kids in the corner holding the aerial ?LOL ) I hope this helps and that you will be on freeview soon .. oh and check with the ITA that your area has full Freeview transmissions .. there is a 24 hour call line .. on 0800-40 85 902 and they will give you all the information you will require hope this helps Regards Vortash

Technika 15.4'' tv/dvd can't find antenna that is plugged in

When almost all TV stations went digital, analog TV signals received via an antenna all but disappeared in the United States. So you will not be able to get much, if anything at all without a digital TV connected to a cable system or a satellite system. Welcome to the new economy! You want it? You will PAY for it! Radio (first FM, then AM) will most likely be the next casualty of the new economy!

Setting up my freeview box- NO CHANNELS FOUND

Hi.

The cable & wireless system is not capable of picking up the digital freeview frequencies.
Idealy you need to put a new aerial on the roof,
If this is not possible try an indoor aerial that you to plug in to the mains electrical supply.
