Hi I have a sharp al-1664 and want to use it as a printer, I wish to do this by plugging it into my USB port on my computer and then use my computers wireless network to enable 3 other computers to be able to print with the sharp al-164( while the first computer is turned on), i do not have a driver cd for this printer, i am using windows 7. when i goto the sharp website and try to download a driver for windows 7 there are none, i have tried using other drivers such as vista and M.E. but they do not seem to bne working, please can you help me?

I had a similar problem! Here is what eventually worked for me, after searching through postings for hours on end...

First, I made sure I had the new driver. Second, (and this might be different for you), my computer recognized my printer, but any time I sent something to print, it never made its way there. The little printer icon at the bottom said 1 document pending, then quickly said 0 documents pending, but nothing ever printed. When I ran HP diagnostics, it said everything was okay with the printer, and even printed a test page! But still nothing from any other program. So, eventually I went to control panel, then printers, then I clicked on the HP printer, then right clicked and went to properties. I changed two things in here, and I'm not sure which one was the solution. First, I changed the security settings (in the security tab) so that every user had access to all options for the printer. Second, on the advanced tab, I selected print directly to printer instead of the spool print documents option. And tada it worked!

May not solve anyone elses problem, but I didn't see this solution in any of the posting sites, so I thought I'd share it. Give it a try!

I purchased a Dynex USB to Parallel Converter Cable from Best Buy and tried to connect but had no success. I then sent an email to Dynex customer service and received a reply in about 24 hours. The rep provided spot on instructions which I was able to follow to a tee. My 14 year old HP Laserjet 5P is now ready to run until it blows up.

I spent hours searching web forums and only received overcomplicated replies by people who think they are techies, none of which worked. I am 63 years old and not a techie, so if I can do it, anyone can. I have saved the email and will forward this straightforward simple fix to anyone who needs it. My net cost was $36.00 for the cable.

Yes, well I can´t help you to solve that problem and in fact i´m hoping that you´ve already solven it, cuz right now i got the same problem with my c3450... It worked just fine under vista x64 but now on windows 7 x64 i have the same problem as you have/had!

On printer driver page select "Windows Update". It will take a few minutes to update the printer drivers for Win7, but the K80 and many more HP drivers will be available. I just printed a "test page" and it came out fine. Hope this helps. Richard
