Three blinking light on the front of my samsung DLP flashed and TV would not turn on. I replaced the Lamp($154) and now the picture is great. worked the night before 3hrs, and the next mourning if turns off 5 min when watching the news. Any ideal on how to fix this problem??\r\n Frank Pangelinan

The lamp drive Circuit. There is a Ballast that could be bad. all 3 lights blinking means lamp has a fault the service manual says replace the lamp. If you need the service training manual for that model let me know and I will post the link as the training manual has excellent trouble shooting breakdowns for that model DLP

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp
Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

I'm not a TV repair guy but my owners manual states that when all three LED's or lights on the front of the TV are flashing, that the lamp needs to be replaced. Might want to look into this. Good luck!

No picture on my samsung 61" dlp.
The color wheel if bad enough, will cause the lamp not to light. If the lamp is truly bad, you can't usually tell by just looking at it unless of course it is broken.

my advice is that if the project is getting expensive kindly invest in a new tv. i am nt familiar with that set but you are having a micro processor problem replace it and your tv will work fine as it was before good luck.

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
