Error message 1203

I keep getting Error Message 1203 on my Dell All-in-One 924 Ink Jet printer. It refers you to the Owner's manual, which is no help. It only says to reinstall cartridges, disconnect/reconnect power, which I tried several times. I also tried cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol. And I just installed a new black cartridge. Only difference any of this made is that the 1203 message changed from "print head short" to "cartridge error". I don't want to waste more money by replacing the color cartridge too, if that's not going to fix the problem. Anybody have any suggestions?

Problem solved. I took my printer to Office Max, described what I
had done so far, and told them that if a replacement color cartridge
would resolve the problem I would gladly buy it- I just did not want to
spend the money on a new color cartridge for a dead printer. We
installed the new cartridge there in the store, tested it out, and
    everything is now fine.

Get error message 1203

Hello.

That error is cartridge-related.

Check to see if ink is smeared on the holder where it contacts the cartridge.

Use a damp tissue and clean the cartridge contacts.

Then, align the cartridges and run the printer cartridge cleaner a few times.

Hope this helps.

Error 1203.

It's mean your catridges overflow even from brand new catridges after a several prints or right after you refilled the catridges. Check to see if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel with the catridge. I have the same problem which I think lexmark have a proble and overlook.
Solution:
I use the klennex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again.
The refill ink work very well if you let it sit 24 hrs. Then before you print anything, you should run aligned the catridges a couple times then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex on those holder contact panel.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

Even though I have install the ink cartride

Hi there please try this.

Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

My dell printer 924 is giving me a message 1203

From what I was reading this error is caused by the contacts where your print cartridge connects being dirty or having old ink smeared on them. Pull out your ink cartridges and use a cloth with just a little dab of water to wipe any old ink off of these contacts.
To reset the error code you should be able to disconnect the power cord from the wall. Also remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Then connect everything again.
