LCD TV blows fuses

Our 32 inch LCD made by Element Electronics keeps blowing 4 amp 220 volt fuses. We have checked plug to verify that we are getting 120 volt. It just stopped working all of the sudden. Can you help us? thank you

  • richlion Jul 24, 2008

Thank you so much for your great and common sense suggestion. We will try to find someone to look at the TV and see if they can find the defective diode. Otherwise,  we will have 50 lbs of electronic waste in our office to get rid off since the TV is just over the warranty period of one year, Thanks again for your help. Aloha

Since the main fuse is being effected, it suggests that there is a major problem in the power supply section. I would be looking for a shorted rectifier diode. If you have any experience with electronics, you may be able to locate this problem. If hte set is still in warranty, return it for warranty service. If not, try loking for burned components etc.

IF the set is close to teh warranty ending period, try calling in a warranty claim anyway. Speak to a manager. If the timeframe is really close (week or two), they mayu cover it anyway.

Philips 32PFL3505D/F7 32-Inch LCD HDTV keeps turning off when I turn it on

You have a shorted Diode in the power supply board. The power supply board has a 110 volt AC cord attached to it. Locate diode D621. It will be near the red, black and white wires attached to the inverter board. Snip this diode on one end and lift it just to clear the board. You may cut the other end and remove (don't have to). Do not try to tear the diode out or you will destroy the board. The TV will operate fine without this diode. Replace your ac fuse (4 AMP, GMA fast blow fuse ). You just repaired your TV. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV.

Just installed new steam shower, it produces steam for about 5 minutes and then blows the fuse

Based from your comments, a new steam shower that blows the fuse in five minutes. You could have installed a new steam shower that is much bigger than what you previously have.
1. For a 5000 watts steam shower at 220 volts
power must have a fuse rating of 40 amps, supply
wires of at least No. 6 AWG Type THW ; and at
110 volts a fuse rating of 80Amps, supply wires
of at least No. 2 AWG type THW.
2. For a 4000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 30 amps,
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW. At 110volts
60 amps, Supply wires : No. 4 AWG Type THW
3. For a 3000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 20 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW; At 110volts
Fuse: 40 amps, Supply wire: No. 6 AWG THW
4. For a 2000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 15 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG THW and at 110 volts
Fuse: 30 amps, Supply wire: No, 8 AWG THW

Will not turn on Have checked switch under filter Have checked continuity of the fuse plates are making contact Ecoquest Breeze AQ

Have you checked the fuse? It is located in back of the Breeze in the fuse holder next to where the plug connects to the purifier. It uses a 1.0 Amp slow blow for 110 volt models and 0.5 Amp slow blow for 220 volt models.

Will not heat, it only blow cold air, how do I change the heating element inside the unit

If the drum turns, it could be as simple as a blown fuse or breaker. The dryer has doule breaker or fuses at fuse panel. If the one blows, the heater will not work but motor willturn as motor rums on 110volts. It may be cut out thermostat or could be element, but check the power to the plug of dryer out let and make sure you getting 110 volts on from neutral to both sides and 220 between two live lines.

Panasonic ct-32sl13g blowing fuse by power supply

You will need to remove the back of the TV. Don't worry, it's not that bad.

There are 4 screws across the top, one on each side, one right next to where the power cord goes into the back of the case, and the two more by all of the video connections **These are the most important to remove because they attach the main board to the back of the case.

Once you have remove the screws then the entire back of the set will slide off. If you look where the power cord attaches to the board you will see a small fuse. This is a 6.3 Amp 125 volt fuse. You can replace it with a 6.3 Amp 250 volt fuse from your local Radio Shack. A four pack costs between $3 and $5.

Make sure that you check that it works before putting it all back together. Check for any loose connection cables while you're back there. I found a few when I did this.

Good luck!

125 v 4 amp fuse keeps blowing

if you plugged a 125 volt tv in to a 220 volt outlet you more than likely fried alof of the componets in the tv. Putting a bigger fuse in there is only going to increase the risk of it catching on fire so i would not recomend that. you might replace the power supply and cross your fingers and hope that nothing else cooked when the 220 volts hit it

Sylvania 6632 LG blows fuse when plugged in

I too had this problem. I read some posts on this site about how to repair it, and low behold, they worked! I took the back off of the TV, and the first thing I found was the fuse was blown. With my meter, I checked the first 1N5406 rectifier diode after the fuse, and found that it had shorted out. Then I had to learn to desolder the diode, which I learned about on Youtube. I bought a pair replacement diodes at Radioshack for $1.49 and four replacement 125 volt 4 amp fuses. The whole repair cost about $5.00 and a few hours about learning about electronics. The TV works great! Good times!
