SOURCE: Suunto Cobra Computer Console, battery replacement

Hey scuba2man, I have the same problem. Did you ever work out what was going on? My console didn't register any depth for first couple of dives (I had to turn it on every 5 mins to check air). Next couple of dives it told me I was between 98 and 103 metres deep (whatever that is in feet). I was at a maximum depth of 22m!!
I will let you know if I find solution. If not then I'll just get a new one!!!

SOURCE: suunto heart rate belt does not work after

Hello. remove the new batteries and clean the contacts with the eraser end of a common pencil. Then reinsert the batteries. IF it still doesn't work it could be that your new batteries are no good. Take them to any radio shack store and they will test them for u at no charge. J.

SOURCE: The heart rate monitor function

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www.tramsoft.ch/suunto/x3hr_en.html

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER"S MANUAL for that model:

http://www.tramsoft.ch/downloads/suunto/manual_x3hr_en.pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated or the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there.

With steady use of the heart rate monitor or the backlight feature, the battery in the watch will likely last less than 1 year. It may be due for replacement as well, in addition to the one you replaced in the chest belt transmitter.

See page 6, paragraph 1.4 of the USER'S MANUAL for detailed instructions and normal maintenance schedule for replacing the battery in the watch body.

Also ensure that the chest belt is secure enough to provide good constant contact bewtween the transmitter's sensor electrodes and your bare skin. Also make sure to lightly wet the grooved electrode area on the back of the transmitter to ensure proper contact with skin.

See page 14, paragraph 2.4 of the User's Manual for additional details.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

If this was at all helpful please click on the 4 Thumbs Up helpfulness rating icon you see on this page.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Well it depends on how much you sweat.
The sensors need to be wet to read correctly.
You can buy something called Heart Rate Gel cost about $5 to $10
Some people just lick the sensors on the watch strap and it works until they can start sweat enough..
Hope this helps.

My heart rate monitor does not work when gripping the hand bars.

please follow the steps and fix it. God bless you

1) Make sure the heart rate monitor is under your clothing, against your skin, and as high under the pectoral muscles as is comfortable. Note: If the heart rate monitor does not function when positioned as described, try moving it slightly lower or higher on your chest.

2) Make sure the logo on the sensor is facing forward and is right side up.

3) Use saline solution (saliva or contact lens solution) to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor unit. If the heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiring, re-wet the electrode areas.

4) As you walk or run on the treadmill, position yourself near the center of the walking belt. For the console to display heart rate readings

5) The heart rate monitor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms. Heart rate detection problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contractions (pvcs), tachycardia bursts, and arrhythmia.

6) The operation of the heart rate monitor can be affected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources. If you suspect that magnetic interference may be causing a problem, try relocating the treadmill.

7) If the heart rate monitor still does not function properly, test it by having another person try it.

Look in my tips and tricks page for the most common issues regarding Heart Rate transmission, if none of these fix it, then you "may" have an issue with the equipment itself. Generally the most common issues area:

Strap not on correctly (too loose, too low, upside down, not enough wetness to conduct)
Environmental factors (signal interference, etc)

Pulse measurements stops or stalls once in a while.

If there are no other issues with the watch, then most likely what you are experiencing is an issue with the Heart Rate Strap.

It is very common for all brands of heart rate monitors to have issues with measurement.

The #1 reason is poor contact with the strap and your skin. - Make sure the contacts are wet and touching the skin with good contact.
#2 reason - Weak battery, may need to replace.
#3 reason - Sensors on strap have salt build up from sweat - Clean the strap and contacts with soap and water, if deep cleaning is neccessary use a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol.
#4 reason - Strap is too low on the body, raise as high on the chest as possible to just under the breasts. Strap too low will cause a weak signal.

If none of these seem to help, then you should contact Suunto and see about possible repair or exchange/ return.
