My Omega 1000 is 10 yrs old, but I've only been using it regularly for 1 yr and 3 months. Putting a carrot through isn't stabilizing it anymore. It takes off when the screen is 1/2 full. But the weirdest thing is the chipping of the bottom of the chute. I started hearing loud cracking noises occasionally and then I noticed that the bottom of the chute is now all chipped up. Is the blade hitting it? If so, why?

Yes the blade is hitting it when the juicer vibrates
severely. I have an Acme, 21 years old, and found
very difficult to control vibration especially with a
new shredder blade. If you are handy this is what
to do. Order a new cover from omega, cover design
has changed so you will need the plunger also. This
may sound incorrect, but you will have to use a small
file to file down the cutting burrs on the blade a fraction
of an inch. Then with the juicer fully assembled, unlock
the set screw on the center of the bottom and turn it
clockwise until the chute contacts the blade then back
it off a half turn. Now the chute to blade gap is set
correctly. In filing down the burrs you make the blade
a little duller but you also narrow the gap and feed
the produce through more slowly and evenly. This
comes from 21 years of using this machine. With
a new blade I could not control the vibration no matter
how I fed the thing. If this sounds a bit too much get
rid of the Omega and try the pulp ejecting type. The
Miracle MJ1000 is a nice little juicer for about $130.

Hi- I wanted to use my juicer again after not having used it in at least 2 yrs. Last time (which I can't remember!) I used it, it worked. This time, all loaded up with veggies, when I turned it on it...

Just looked at mine because I thought there also might be an interlock switch
where the latch arms snap shut. There isn't one, at least on this one. Yours
might be a newer edition, so make sure the latch arms are fully seated and
snapped closed. You can also call Omega at 1 800 633 3401 and run it by
them. The reset switch should be in the pushed in position, it will pop out if
it's tripped.

After juicing a few carrots[some of which were cut on a slant], or several spinach clusters, the machine seems to get off balance and begins shaking violently and making a racket at which point I have to...

There's nothing wrong. These juicers do not eject the pulp and go out of balance very
easily. If you continue to have problems you may have to go for a different type of juicer.
The Hurom or Omega VRT, expensive, look good if you're really into juicing.

My #6001 juicer ( old!!) will make a very loud sound even after only 3 carrots.. causing me to stop and clean out pulp.. even may shake more than usual... so am thinking it should need an overhaul??? I...

No overhaul. These juicers do not eject the pulp and are subject to vibration especially if you
install a new blade. I've had one for 21 years and get by using a worn blade which I sharpen
with an electric drill using a small bit.

I have an Omega Juicer Model 1000. When I try to juice citrul fruit. The jicer may only turn for a second or two than stops. When I push down on the citrus it oftentimes will not operate.

If you're talking about the citrus attachment, there may be a
problem with the gearing inside. I have one for my Acme
which I don't use because of it's awkwardness and juice
splattering characteristics. Better off with an inexpensive
citrus juicer and leave the Omega to its carrots and apples.

Wheatgrass juicing problems

Hi, I have an Omega juicer, and I've never had this happen. I recommend that you double check to see if you have the right parts attached. It comes with two inserts, one with a small metal screen on the bottom, the other has no screen, it is solid. The solid one is for crushing and proccessing food. The one with the screen is used for juicing. Make sure you have the correct one installed. If that is not the problem, I think perhaps the grass is too dry? Maybe there isn't enough moisture in it to extract much. I really can't say, though. Try juicing something else, like carrots, and see if you can get some juice there. If all else fails, contact Omega at their website. They have terrific customer service. I've tested it already with a warranty replacement.
