I have a 5 year old Samsung S5688W DLP and recently having the audio sounding slightly muffled/echoing. I have unplugged/re-plugged all cables and wondering if one of my children could have blown one of the internal speakers. I have gone through the manual but nothing covers this problem.

SOURCE: Samsung DLP color has gone Muted...Color Wheel or Bulb???

The color wheel or lamp ballast needs replaced...it would be hard to know which without being there to look at to fix the humming problem, neither part is that is that expensive if you price shop, you may want to try one at a time ot save money. Also to fix the picture you need to realigh the DMD board with the help of another person watching the picture.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Why does sound have a muffled sound to it

It sounds like you have a bad ground connection on either an input or output. Try wiggling the cables and plugs that connect to it. If you can figure out which cable is bad, try a new one. If it still has the problem, then the problem may be inside the mixer. If so, I can fix it. Contact me at [email protected].

It's likely the groud connection in the cable is broken. Possibly at the plug, it would mean no centre focus and no bass as the headphones get only out of phase sounds. I'm guessing you've tried them in another device - a faulty sockey would do the same.

Sounds like a couple of coincidental but unrelated symptoms.

Optical cables need precise seating and no tight bends.

Muffled, channel-specific sound is usually on the analog end. Speaker connections maybe.

Weak audio gets weaker

The ocean sound is 'noise' which means a bad connection. Best thing is to unplug & plug back in all cinch & scart etc cables, while turned off, of course. do this a few times for each cable, then turn it on.

Sometimes it is the headphone jack, have you used it recently?
Try plugging & unplugging the headphones quickly a few times, that normally solves the problem.
If you still have a problem then it's internal and the TV needs looking at.

Green screen

I had the same problem, green screen, no picture, audio OK. DVD player had a picture. Our other TVs were OK. Cable provider had me unplug my cable box for 30 seconds and plug it back in and now it works! I found this out by an online chat with my cable provider.
