This is usually the dryer coils have failed. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a video on replacing the dryer coils. If you need further help try this link for troubleshooting a gas dryer

Whirlpool duet gas dryer

The question is are your clothes getting dry? The flame does not stay on constantly, but cycles on and off. Now if the clothes aren't drying properly, then the first thing to check is if you have good air flow coming out of the back of the machine and air flow completely outside where the vent exhaust to. If that is good then most likely your flame sensor has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Heats but wont stay heated

If the flame come on to start with, but then goes out and won't come back on I would suspect you have a bad coil on the gas valve.
If you see the flame cycle on and off, but the flame does come back on again this is normal. The flame needs to cycle on and off and not be on steady or the dryer would get to hot.
If the flame is cycling ok and the cloths just don't get dry then you need to check your dryer and vent for lint build up.

Whirlpool gas dryer model # LGR4634JQ1. The dryer has an initial flame when first started up, but after about 15 seconds the flame goes out and the dryer remains cool.

The flame sensor is probably bad. This is located on the side of the tube the flame is in. Has two wires going to it. Try to short it out and see if the flame stays lit. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES OPERATE THIS DRYER WITH CLOTHES IN IT WITHOUT THE FLAME SENSOR IN PLACE!!!!! The other problem might be air flow. If the duct is blocked the flame will trigger the high limit switch. Take the hose off the back of the dryer and turn it on. There should be a lot of air flow. If there is and the flame stays on the duct hose or outlet is clogged.

Gas dryer with no heat

check the ignition might be a glo-bar element or a maintained high voltage spark module. once there is a pilot a flame rod or a millivolt generator opens the main valve for fire.
